Last night i was patrolling the strait between Hokkaido and Honshu. It was around noon and i was cruising at periscope depth. I get a quick look and find myself almost in the center of a convoy. I shot all my fish then dive before the 3 DD get at me. Resurface on the other side of the convoy and again launch all my torps. Then i play cat and mouse with some very angry DDs. All in all i get six sunk ship icon on my map. But i was credited for only 4 ???

Perhaps, two of the ships rammed each other in the confusion.

If that is the case, you don't get credit; just the warm glow of victory. :03:

Or, as the squadron adjutant reminded Leutnant Stachel in "The Blue Max," when the good Leutnant's SE-5 kill went unconfirmed - "Then you have the deep satisfaction of knowing you have served the Fatherland."

In a similar vein, I have noted on a few occasions that during a protracted engagement, when I am both attacking a convoy and attempting to dodge its escorts at the same time, some of my sinking markers are a nice fresh red and others are greyed-out.

I'm thinking that the ramming option is probably the best one. When my torps start exploding everywhere, the ships started to get a bit frantic.
