View Full Version : Entire Convoy Wiped Out By Huge Waves

So these waves(forgot to take a screenshot) took the pleasure of sending an entire convoy to Davy Jones' Locker.

I'm not sure if this is caused by one of the mods I'm using, a feature of the game or a glitch even. It has happened quite a few times now, even claiming a light cruiser just a few nautical miles off Bungo Strait. I noticed that every time the waves are humongous, all or most of the targets I'm trying to attack will sink before they even get close to me.

So I was stalking this convoy in the Bismarck Sea, all of them disappeared suddenly then this showed up.

Pearl Harbor avenged by American rogue wave generator? What you are describing sounds pretty remarkable. I've never seen it before.

Improved ship physics does that. Supposed to simulate bad weather.

I have seen this a number of times & like you find in infuriating. Numerous times in large storms I will begin my target track only to have it foiled by them sinking. One time the ship "died" as my torp was in the water streaming to it. That ticked me off more than a little bit because I didnt get credit for the kill :/\\!!

Monster storms are far to common IMO. Sure a monsoon will create some doozy waves but 40' seas seem to appear with alarming regularity.

I recently started playing OM & while I havent yet figured out how to hit a ship with an eel using anything but a fast 90 it seems to me the sea state is much more agreeable & the Atlantic has a reputation for being much more dangerous (wave action) than the Pacific.

I caught a large convoy heading for Palau and sent several of them to Davy Jones. When I checked the convoy records, it turned out that that particular convoy had historically been caught in a typhoon and several ships wrecked. So sometimes the weather takes your kills, other times it leaves them to your attentions. I think there is an option in ISP to tone down the monsoons

So its ISP. How would I tone it down?

Actually Improved Ship Physics 2.6_TMO_RSRDC_OTC already has the patch included.

Even toned down, the waves are pretty massive. I replaced the scene.dat with the ISE improved environment (because I like the way that water looks better) and it looks like the ships still have physics, but the waves are normal. I'm not sure if I broke anything or not but it's been playing fine so far.

Are you following the directions in the ISP 2.x patch?

If you haven't installed AND followed the recommended procedures, you will have too much severe weather.

That said, you shouldn't expect to be able to make attacks in very bad storms.

In the documentation and in the download page, it says that 2.x Patch has already been applied so yeah...

Edit: A bit of confusion...

I downloaded the "patched already applied" version by SilentPrey..yikes...

I wouldn't run ISE with ISP
