It is not only sick it's also so awful to those who stood in front of these weapons

Satellite images of North Korea have captured what appears to be the imminent public execution of a group of people with six anti-aircraft guns

Ouch... :dead: :nope:

Well, on the upside, there probably wouldn't have been much left of the poor sods after that, so death would hopefully be mercifully quick.

No I meant the interpretation that they are people and not something else. It's certainly possible that they are, apparently the NK's are known for doing such things, but I can't tell that from the picture in the article.

There was a series of executions recently as Jong-un cleared house of potential trouble-makers.
http://edition.cnn.com/2015/04/29/world/north-korea-executions/

This could have been that, it's not unlike the DPRK to use unconventional execution methods, I believe last year they executed someone by flamethrower. :nope:

While not the best way to go, it's probably more humane than executions in the US.

It wasn't a reply directed to you.
Just a nonchalant, smartass comment in general. ;)

Maybe the .22lr ammo shortage has hit NK too.

When it comes to NK and the ordinary people living there and the circumstances they live under it makes me so sad

What makes me..can't find the word I'm seeking.

Here's the reason:

(I can't remember the exact phrase US President Bush said)

No dictator should feel safe from hurting their citizens-If it was before Iraq war 1 or 2 I don't know.

So When will the citizen in NK see their governmen being hit by the Iron hand from USA and the west ?

The problem with the Iron Hand is you break something with it, you gotta fix it. Certainly Iraq and Libya have shown the consequences of doing an incomplete job. Better not to start in my opinion. Crushing all the world's tyrants sounds satisfying, but you often have kill a whole lot of people you wish to liberate to get to them, and the resulting power vacuum and the law of unintended consequences have to be dealt with somehow. Plus, I don't think China and Russia would just stand idly by anymore than they did in 1950.

Anyway, the problem that the North Korean population faces, and what keeps them loyal to the country's leadership despite their deplorable conditions, is that they have no sense of relative deprivation. North Korea is an information bubble with little outside information allowed into the country. Internet access, literature, movies, or any medium of expression that does not expound the greatness of dear leader or the philosophy of Juche are prohibited; radio and television signals from outside the country are routinely jammed as well, so there not much in the way for the people to know what is going on outside the country other than what they are told by the state. Although this is changing, it's at a glacial pace. But barring some emergency we may have to content ourselves with that.

The North uses the U.S. as a prop to blame them for all of their domestic problems. So if there are food shortages or no electricity to power the country, outside of Pyongyang of course, it is not evidence of North Korea's failure, but rather the fault of the "imperialist aggressors". When people are fed such a daily barrage of propaganda, it is not hard to see why these people are so brainwashed.

So they shoot at enemies with big guns. Disgusting, of course, but North Corea is a dictatorship.

How about killing one terrorist and, say, ten innocent civilians on a wedding party with a hellfire rocket, by some people via Ramstein, from a drone.
Bit of overkill as well, don't you think, AND done on FOREIGN territory.
Not disgusting, of course. We are the good. :hmmm:

Also, China will never allow the US or South Korea to overthrow North Korea. The only state that can do that is China. The main reason is the North Korean/Chinese border, and the threat that a war would create millions of hungry Koreans fleeing across the border into China and deep-sixing the Chinese economy.
If Kim did get too out of control I'd expect a Chinese lead coup and a puppet government installation.

Also, let's face it, if North Korea was to reunite with South Korea it would completely wreck South Koreas economy. Just ask Catfish how difficult the reunification of Germany was. This would be a million times worse.

The German reunification I Remember well. all the problems West Germany had to face the years and decades after.

I also know the problem it would cause if the people in NK should be liberated. I guess the west had to start a massiv "Marshall Plan" like the one after WWII.

Indeed...although the West is kind of in need of its own Marshall Plan, and I doubt very much could afford to bail out Korea. :dead:

It would be hard to convince me that they would waste these weapons on a simple execution... if it was an execution. More likely they would just tie them up and kill them with a stick.

It's always possible that Kim is looking to surprise us by taking a more concilatory approach with the south, but he's got to remove the top half of his army and cow the rest since he knows he'd be couped if he tried.

Yes, this is indeed sick, if it is true. After all the satellite images are a bit .. unclear.

But it has happened before, during the Sepoy uprising, in India:
"The British deliberately defiled rebel sepoys that were caught. Some were blown from cannon."

Yeah, but the rebels butchered women and children, not only colonials, and when I mean butchered I mean hacked them alive and threw them down the well.

So tying someone to the cannon after that seems like they gave them the easy punishment. They also forced some of them to lick the blood of their victims off the floor before execution.

^ First you should maybe read the link, regarding "easy punishment". Apart from torture and licking of cow and chewing pig fat, before execution.

The British army plundered Delhi for days and massacred many civilians just as the rebels had done.

"A 19 year old British soldier took part in the mayhem and described it:
“The orders were to shoot every soul. I think I must have seen about 30 or 40 defenseless people shot down before me. It was literally murder and I was perfectly horrified. . . and a few yards further on still some of our own drunken soldiers would reel past, exciting your pity not unmixed with disgust. Wherever you go, you see some unfortunate man or other being dragged out of his hiding place, and barbarously put to death” (Dalrymple 357).

"Of the 40,000 Europeans living in India, approximately one in seven perished. On the Indian side, at least 800,000 died in the uprising and the ensuing famine (Peers 64). "

This film is still very one-sided.
