hey guys, I have an idea for a full conversion mod, a mod where we can play as the Japanese in there I and RO boats. I'm not a Modder, in fact the only thing I can do is provide detail about machinery and statistics for the subs. this is just a mod idea, but please tell me your opinion on this idea.

Really? Still no reply? I guess I'll rephrase what I'm saying. I think it would be cool if someone out there, who has the skills, could make a FULL conversion mod for SH4 or 3 and the mod would be a complete Japanese campaign with the unique subs, missions and (if possible) Japanese voices. Sorry if it sounds like I'm demanding a lot, but really it's up to u guys because IDK how to mod, so let me know what u guys think or if your already thinking about making a Japanese campaign.

Part of the philosophy among modders is that there was a point for each and every one of them when they didn't know how to mod either. What you need to do is start small, but start learning. It's okay to ask if anyone has made a mod that does one thing. But something like this? As I said in your other thread, look at IABL's Wolves Of The Kaiser mod. He's been working on it for six years, and who knows how long it will be before it's released? It's a labor of love, and it's only happening because he took the time and effort to learn how to do what he wants.

Maybe it's time you did the same.

Actually there's been one or two attempts before. I'll try to find these later, but none had reached completion.

The problem is the amount of work involved vs. interest to justify it. So far the only complete conversions to be finished for SH4 are Operation Monsun and Soviet Fairway. The former was an exceptional effort by an exceptional modder over a couple of years. The latter was a team effort that took about 5 years. Both had very large target audiences. IABL's Wolves of the Kaiser mod is another exceptional effort that I know will get done. There's a semi-complete British campaign and I THINK an Italian mod group had also worked on an Italian conversion.

It's also tough to do a Japanese campaign because of how SH3/4 is built. SH3/4 is good at modeling a submarine commerce war. But the Japanese did not use their submarines in that capacity, which makes it tough to make a campaign that's both realistic and compelling.

I'm not saying it's impossible and I'd love to see it! But don't underestimate the effort involved - it's thousands of man-hours of work, and the idea itself isn't enough to convince someone to invest that into something.

There, that's what I was looking for:

Unfortunately was left unfinished. Work on it stopped in 2011.

Peabody and Keltos01 were a good team together. Keltos01 worked on the model assets, Peabody did a lot of game file changing and Campaign Mission work. The Campaign Missions are what slowed down the process.......it's not easy!

Too bad most of Keltos01 images have lost their link to wherever he had them stored.
