I went to NYGM from GWX and damn glad I did it. Don't get me wrong, GWX is good. Awesome effects and immersion, but I just couldn't handle reinstalling or the CTD issue any more. If I was able to complete a patrol without having to start over, then I was having a good day. People say GWX is not he cause of the Ctds, and maybe so, but I have not had a single issue with NYGM.
NYGM gives me abolutely no problems, with the right mods I am pretty close to GWX feeling.
I compare the two this way:
GWX is a Ferrari with a VW engine, looks fantastic, feels good, but the engine is weak, and needs servicing often.
NYGM is a Camaro. Simple sports car, fast, and gets you where you are going. I would love the Ferrari, but this one is good.
I currently don't have SH3 installed, im waiting for the new LSH3, but back when I played, I played GWX with a TON of smaller mods on top of it. I loved playing it felt very realistic and looked great and I love the GWX campaign. ill let you guys know if the new LSH3 will replace GWX for me.

I've always used GWX, and since I've never actually completed a career I continue to do so. Someday I hope to give them all a try. :sunny:

I have no mod installed yet (my first patrol ever going on) so it is nice to see the results of this poll. Although I think I'll go for GWX

Wellcome LeBueno :)
NYGM plus two years of selection and experimentation with mods, digging and editing many things.

Welcome LeBueno! Tervetuloa messiin!
We now have at least 3 Finnish SH3 thread members and more if one takes into account the regulars that hang around subsim's other threads. A couple more and we'll build a mod for the WWII Finnish submarines Vetehinen, Ilmarinen and Vesikko!

It'a about 14 months that I play SH3 and I use GWX.
I almost instantly disliked vanilla SH3 when I first herd and saw about GWX.
I played a little, then decided to install MaGui as my GUI and MEP as Environment and I was good to go!
Had much fun, played a couple of careers, then just recently I disinstalled everything and rebuild my mod soup to use MaGui Widescreen (and now I know I will not play again in 1024x768) and bring the game to another level installing the outstanding H.sie Patch.
I've also learn to use Silent 3ditor, very easy and useful!
Now I fine-tune my Sensor.dat/AISensor.dat/whatever to make worthwhile mods works well togheter (for example: New Sh3 Hyprophones layers by Rubini v2.0 - another fantastic addition, IMO).

Last day of the survey will then be closed :salute:

it is a good question why WAC is not so popular
this supermod has the biggest ,imo, amount of work in its files.
it has ,probably, the best campaign (which is the hardest part for creating a supermod) ,a big variety of wonderfull ships and the best graphics at ui ,enviro ,subs...etc
this supermod has an 'atmosphere' all over its files which gives you the sense of the passion that its creators had back then .it is 5-6(?) years since its last update and still is not overpassed.
my only ''objection'' on WAC are its sensors settings but this is easy to be cured by 'transfering' your prefered (from the x supermod ) sensors settings to wac's files.
of course , all supermods are good (more choices are always better) but ,at the end of the day,i would vote on WAC

hello Hauangua,
i am not sure that i understand your message but (if you mean the same thing) i also expect from the upcoming LSH3 v6 to overpass WAC
WAC's campaign(Campaign_SCR=10.415) is doubled on size compared to LSH3 v5.1 's campaign (Campaign_SCR=5.913)
rest campaign files:
WAC's Campaign_RND = 9.393 compared to LSH3's Campaign_RND = 6955
WAC's Campaign_LND = 2.310 compared to LSH3's Campaign_LND = 353

Only 35 people have voted so far. Given the huge number of posts in the threads dedicated to each supermod, I would expect that if we had 3500 votes the results would be similar, but there are a lot of people who like each one of them. Once I get settled in with being able to play again I'm thinking of giving them all a try. My new computer certainly has the space for them. :sunny:

My problem with WAC is that I know almost nothing about it. Is there a manual for the mod somewhere? I wouldn't want to download 4 GB just to find out that I'd still prefer NYGM.

Hi Sublynx
I downloaded Wac yesterday, first impression .... wow !!
Is true, ship, environment, effects, are top notch, the gameplay does not know yet but I'll try.
Regarding 4Gpatch, I have done so:
Used Multi sh3
Mod list: Wac 4.1 + + wacFix + Stiebler V16b and I patched exe with Stiebler
Currently working fine, these days I'll try career

Downloading...
I've used S3A before, it's more handy than a FTP connection, but had already forgotten that it had WAC.
GWX is a Ferrari with a VW engine, looks fantastic, feels good, but the engine is weak, and needs servicing often.
I have never once had an issue with GWX. my issues were usually caused by incorrect mod instalment or gaming issues particular to SH3. and as for servicing..?

No prizes for guessing my preference (GWX), but like Steve, I'd like to think I will try them all one day, time permitting.
CCoM is another super mod. I think the latest version is v10.2.

GWX3 'cause it's the only one I've been able to get working so far without hassle. Tried GWX3, Living and WAC.

As a relative noob I went with GWX, for no other reason than it was what most people seemed to be using, plonked on one or two extra mods, such as Thomsen's sound, SH4 Effects and the hi res fix, dropped some music from the 30s and 40s into the gramophone via youtube and an ogg converter, and have run without problem.
It would be interesting to read a user critique of each mod and the diffferences between them, relative strengths and weaknesses etc which might motivate me to try the others at some point. If anyone has come across a thread that covers this in any kind of in depth way please drop it onto the thread!
Maybe keep this poll open a bit longer. Many may not check the forum as frequent as some of us? :Kaleun_Cheers:
I am back on GWX / SH3Commander just because of overall feeling with it: gets the job done.
Once I get a higher performance system I am going to have that setup with NYGM.
I loved my first tour on NYGM with my current (old) system but I want to use the full package of merchant ships (not just the light package--which btw is very good)
So I will have to be patient. When I go back on to NYGM, for me, it will be mandatory that I do it with SH3 Commander so as to get a thermocline. Without that, one can actually get killed in NYGM. Very unpleasant. :haha:
