Updating and patching P.O.S. Steam version SH5

I have been trying to patch and mod my SH5. I have already had to uninstall and reinstall multiple times.

The auto updater doesn't work. TDW generic patcher made me have to uninstall the game. And the auto launch (or whatever) with the patch didn't work ether.

Can anyone be of any help. All i want to do is patch to 1.2 then add one of the large overhaul mods.

SH5 isn't currently installed on my gaming rig so I'd suggest you PM THEBERBSTER.....Welcome to SubSim :sunny:

I followed this first post to the letter and got it working within an hour or two of trial and error. It's worth it though--it works.

Hey, thanks a lot guys. I've been busy at work and haven't had time to play around with it, cept'n maybe sinking a liberty ship or two...

I may have gotten the patch installed, how can I check if it is updated to 1.2?

I tried the 2 known methods of TDW patching the steam version. Neither worked and I wasted a lot of time.

Still, with the updated steam version, this modsoup is rich enough, and stable (if your rig is good enough, and drivers updated). The ones in red are, IMO, the most essential ones.

Im thinking i will spend the $10 or so bucks to get the CD. It's been a week since I got the game and now I have a hang of how everything works, I will get the CD and patch the game and maybe even go after steam to get my original $10 just because before I paid I had no idea I was going to have to deal with that bs Uplay.

I actually just opened the main menu and to my surprise it is patched to v1.2.

To me this seems like some sort of stroke of good luck. If I remember correct I tried running the auto patcher(sorry for the terrible untechnical names) and after that the game wouldn't even open so I uninstalled and reinstalled through steam and started playing without any more tinkering.

I will now have to learn how these mods worked. I've spent many hours adding mods to the game Skyrim with Nexus mod manager but this is all new to me. I do have JSGME downloaded and The Wolves of Steel mod downloaded, I just have to figure out how to use them.

Yes, do this. Get the DVD copy. I run it on steam, but it is a pain to get mods running properly.

I re-bought the game from Amazon with digital download. I have modded it using the Wolves of Steel megamod, which includes .exe patching, and it works fine.

Nope, when Uplay starts you can go to the upper right hand corner and look
for the emblem that looks like a little gear/sprocket click on this and go to Network. You will see an option to Always Start Uplay in offline mode. If you look around under those preferences you can also disable the dreaded "Saved game sync" in case you ever do want to play online it will not overwrite your offline saves (I always just back my saves up into another directory "just in case").

Without this forum and the dedicated modders and tutorials I would still be trying to play this game as a FPS.

Awesome. Thanks for that bit of information. :)

BTW I did end up downloading SH5 from Amazon instead of Steam. So far it's working. The Steam forums are loaded with people who can't even get the game to run. Not something I wanted to deal with.
