View Full Version : Where Am I?

I got the idea for this from a conversation between Chad and jacobston in The Funny Picture Thread.
I'll post a screenshot scene from a pc game and ask simply which is it? You don't have to come back with one yourself if you've guessed right: I'll carry on with more for as long as I can, but anyone can post their own. A decent amount of scenery too, please (it's not the Who/What/Where Game). Some scenes might be from a game already featured, but will show a very different part of the world/universe.
One guess at a time, and please wait until someone else has tried before you have another go...
Here's no.1

Clues: 1st/3rd person shooter/adventure; you are an American mercenary on a personal mission in a fictitious Latin American country.

Judging by the architecture...
Rome total war?
Is it from the Black Hawk Down game?

Nope and nope. Might've been a difficult, less well-known one to start with; it is a 1st/3rd person shooter/adventure game. I'll put another up soonish and then clearly mark each one that's been guessed correctly with the winner's name. Next one will be easier...
I know I have seen that tile pattern but I cant remember where, is the bloke you play British?

Nope, he's a sort of American mercenary but on a personal mission.

Texas.
But Texas is a real Latin American country, we're looking for a fictitious one....

Texas.
You mean, Texas in its borders after invading Mexico, or vice versa :hmmm:
No, we all know that there is only one America, and the CIA controls it all, down to Argentina :O:
Nope, he's a sort of American mercenary but on a personal mission.
First name that popped up Jack Carver from Far Cry.
Where I don't know I haven't this game where this picture is from.

Good guess, Markus, but it isn't any of the Far Cry games.

Should the correct guesser post the next picture?

Spot-on, Chad! You're not required to post a picture but you can if you like, and as many as you like... anyone can. Just give them a number following on from the previous picture so we know what to call them.

Picture 3) Tricky tricky, at first I thought Hitman 2, but I noticed the weapon on the back is WW2 era, so now I'm leaning towards one of the Sniper Elite games.

Interesting last screenshot, German soldier, or is he undercover? Awfully big chateau, or is it a castle? HUD does not look familiar.

Someone pipped you to the post again, Chad: it IS "The Great Escape", Dowly got it again. The "German soldier" is in fact the player's character (in this instance Steve McQueen, I think) in a stolen uniform; you get to play the roles of various escapers (based on the film's portrayals)throughout the game

You're too good, Harvs! The classic, solid, Return To Castle Wolfenstein. I thought showing the zombies might be too much of a giveaway... I should have worried!

It's the HUD elements that usually give it away. :yep:

You're right about that: I'm going to have to keep this in mind. Tried to offer a more obscure one this time, like no.1 was...

Good opportunity for me to add that these will all be games I play myself, so I'll not be using screenshots off the internet...
