Are there any other skippers out there who like to take a break from the constant depth chargings and grab a nice fast surface ship? If so, which one is your favorite and what are some of your experiences when trying to take on Tojo toe to toe during a surface engagement? :yeah:

One of my favorite sayings that has come true a couple times while out in the woods for a few days hunting with my horse tied by camp. I'm glad you caught onto that Grind!
In principle, it sounds good, but I'm guessing that the gameplay in any surface ships mod suffers from shortcomings associated with inherent problems related to missions, career path, crew management, etc.,etc.
When I was doing work with surface ships in ISP, I did take time out to run a mission, where two hostile surface TF's went head to head. I didn't control any ships; just watched the action. I'll admit it was kinda fun, like watching a short WWII movie. One of the more serious problems in this sort of thing: gun actions/shells/ballistics are poorly modeled. Ubisoft put more effort into torps than shells.

I do agree with the shortcomings of the modeling for the guns/shells. I have noticed that when a plane is spotted and I have the AA guns manned, if they are set to fire at long range, the guns on the side of the approaching plane will shoot in its general directing and the guns on the opposite side shoot straight up into the air raining rounds down onto my own ship... :shifty:

Never heard of that one.
I guess you could mod the shells max. range so they explode at the top of their trajectory? Anyway, that's Ubisoft for you. :O:

There are plenty of surface ships that are playable in the download section.
The IOWA is my favorite.
I can't tell if I have found a rope or lost my horse.
Can someone explain this to me please? I mean in general - when does this saying apply?
Thank you in advance.

The saying is used to express confusion. I have a tendancy to use it a lot when I'm trying to solve a problem and can't make any progress. Lol :)
