Cheers folks, glad to be celebrating another one and it's a pleasure to have you all as company here on Subsim :salute:

I'm spending the next few days with my folks up in rural Quebec, and for a change they actually have internet - well, sort of, since it's a REALLY slow satellite connection. Still better than nothing :D

Otherwise it's good food, watching movies with parents, skyping with brother, girlfriend, grandparents etc. in all parts of the world (my family is very scattered all over the place), and then some SH4 after everyone goes to bed :yep:

Nah, it's "Continuously Computed Impact Point", aka. a visual bomb aiming mode that you get on the HUD of modern fighter/attack airplanes :D Comes from my flight simming and preference for said attack method. I unthinkingly registered that as my name on the Ubisoft forums to follow LO:MAC before it was even released back in the early 2000s, and it stayed with me when I returned to the Ubi forums to follow the pre-release hype for Silent Hunter III, and then my nick migrated here to Subsim along with all my SH-related forum activity :yep:

Nah, it's "Continuously Computed Impact Point", aka. a visual bomb aiming mode that you get on the HUD of modern fighter/attack airplanes :D Comes from my flight simming and preference for said attack method. There's even (thoughtfully) an illustrated example in his avatar, with what looks like a surfaced submarine about to get a knock on the door from a Mark 82.

I prefer the CCIP over CCRP primarily because I was introduced to CCIP earlier than CCRP (I think it was back in the demo of iF-16), but CCRP is pretty damn useful for high altitude drops and you don't need to wiggle around so much to get the recticle in the right place with your nose pointed at the deck. Lost track of the amount of times I've lawn-darted because I was fighting the CCIP recticle. :haha:

(CCRP is Constantly Computed Release Point, essentially, you dial into the computer where you want the bomb to land, and it will give you a line in the HUD, you steer the aircraft into that line so it's straight and then the computer will count down the time to the release point and either will drop the bombs itself or you can drop them when prompted.)

Truthfully, over time as I learned and got into more up-to-date versions of Falcon 4.0, almost all my bombing became some form of CCRP (whether it's dropping cluster bombs on ground radar targets, smart bombs, or pop-up tossing attacks) and CCIP is sort of the exception. But like any dive-bombing, it's a more seat-of-pants way of aiming and some of my best flight simming memories are still of diving into the deck through clouds of flak to line up the pipper, pickle the bomb, and break hard while popping flares at the inevitable barrage of SA-7s that follows :D

It's 10 GB a month...when you hit the limit they cut back the speed. This is why I can never skype call, play online, etc.

(hijack) I feel your pain, brother. Since I moved out of my house, I have to make do with Verizon mobile for my ISP. $200 a month for 30GB. Which sounds bad but before they had a Get 2X data for same Price promo last summer, I was paying $200 a month for 12GB :dead:

The bad thing about that is, you have to go off of cell phone signals. For the most part, it's better than satellite...but there are times that cell device just decides to quit. My phone's 4G service will just flicker off and on every so often.

That co$t is out of this world.....You would be better of co$t wise to move into town. :)

I usually burn up 17 gigs over a month and that will cost me about $275.oo. That is why I don't do skype, nor do I watch movies online. The good thing is that the I-net stick I use with my laptop all over Ontario is the same stick I am using with the PC.
