YIPES: Most of the United States begins Daylight Saving Time at 2:00 a.m. on the second Sunday in March and reverts to standard time on the first Sunday in November. In the U.S., each time zone switches at a different time.
In the European Union, Summer Time begins and ends at 1:00 a.m. Universal Time (Greenwich Mean Time). It begins the last Sunday in March and ends the last Sunday in October. In the EU, all time zones change at the same moment. :-?

I can SEE the Greenwich Meridian from my window (or at least a big stone marker showing where it crosses this rather remote road a fairly short distance from here) and on that same spot is a huge pole-mounted brazier (or beacon) which, along with others strung out across country and within sight of one another, is set ablaze on special occasions, such as on the night of the millenium.

Setting light to a string of brassieres across the country to mark special occasions? Isn't that a bit much?:hmmm:

Utah had a movement in the legislature to do away with DST. It was rejected. "Needs more study". :dead:

LOL :)
Some would have us believe tis the only one that matters :smug:
Stuff you set your damn alarm clocks while the rest of us can get some kip.
I always feel robbed when this happens. Why can't they advance the clocks on friday just before quitting time? Why does it have to steal an hour from our weekend! :/\\!!

I think we can agree that at this time of year, some people react better than others... :timeout:

Well actually since Daylight Savings Time starts now it'd be more accurate to say that we give an hour to the gods of commerce in the spring and they don't give it back to us until the fall.
Anyway I look at it though it's gonna suck at 05:30 (DST) Monday morning. :)

Gods of commerce?
It's for the children at the bus stop.
It's also for the children who play at governance...
so they can play a full round of golf before the sun sets.
Go to bed an hour earlier on Sunday night to reduce the Monday morning suck factor.:yep:
Get an hour in the fall, give it back in the spring.:shucks: ...Yeah, can't they just average it with offsetting it to a half hour and be done with it for the year. It's like stationary jetlag.

Nah if it were just about public convenience it would never have been started. It's perceived benefit to business is why i'm getting up an hour early tomorrow.

It's my reveille and i'll complain if I want to! :)

Why should you care my dear? You're in Idaho.
:D
My maternal grandfather also refused to change his clocks.
Always on CST, or natural circadian standard time if you will.
People used to rise and set with the sun. When the sun set, it was tomorrow.
When the sun rose, they worshipped it.
None of that "Burning the midnight oil BS"

:sign_yeah::har::har:
My Grandpa was a farmer and showed a great deal of sense by not adjusting his clocks.
It didn't change when the Rooster crowed or when the sun went down.
All it does is screw up circadian rhythms...
..and give the senators, congress critters and the POTUS extra daylight to play golf.
But, naturally they use the excuse: It's so the kids don't have to wait for the school bus in the dark.
Instead, they get hit by that guy who just lost an hour of sleep.:-?

The real pain is going through a modest but decent watch collection and setting the correct time.
