Such a shame, a talented actor, director and all round good guy. I read his book 'I am Spock' which recalls some of the problems he had adjusting to the fame surrounding his character.

RIP Mr Nimoy and thank you for everything. :salute:

It was not logical: but he taught me that wanting was often more fun than having!:stare: And that has saved me a lot of trouble in life...http://i.guim.co.uk/static/w-620/h--/q-95/sys-images/Film/Pix/pictures/2011/4/1/1301649947042/Leonard-Nimoy-as-Spock-in-007.jpgI shall miss his council greatly!

The Trek gig was done.
He was last seen playing Doctor William Bell on Fringe.

I guess old Jar Jar Abrams had a soft spot for Mister Nimoy.

Not many of the old Trek crew are left.
I thank them all for sparking my imagination as a kid.

RIP Spock.

Is mourning him illogical?

I am a sad man. I am a touch of an Original Series Trek nerd.

Noooooooo :cry::cry::cry:

That's heartbreaking, and I say that as a total non-trekkie. Nimoy was a brilliantly talented actor and director, bar none - and his Spock stands as perhaps the most important character in all of sci-fi. I've always enjoyed watching him on screen and his directing work is outstanding too. Film and sci-fi is poorer without him.

He will indeed be dearly missed!

A real loss not only to Trek fans but to the acting world. He originally wanted to distance himself from the Spock role after the original run of Trek, but he finally came around to accepting the great work he had done. There are really very few fictional characters who seize the imaginations of the public (Sherlock comes to mind) and being able to elevate a cartoonish character to the level of a seemingly flesh and blood being is very remarkable. He may have done other roles after Trek and before Trek, but he will always be the complex and, no offense to Mr. Spock, very human character he played...

Incidentally, after he had announced his retirement form acting, he did lend his voice to an episode of "The Big Bang Theory":

Thank you, Mr. Nimoy, for giving the world Spock and for all the other roles you played. Excuse us if we engage in a human emotion, sadness...

Shatner is not alone yet, Takei is still alive. So is Koenig and Nichols.
Moving picture nevertheless.

this is a fitting video

Agreed. His character and acting, as part of Star Trek, will stand out from much if not all of TV as the best of popular culture from the 20th century.

RIP.

I actually watched Star Trek when it was on the air in 1966-69 and have been a fan ever since, although I personally can't stand the new movies.

Its the end of an era.

anyone seen these?
