I still have the first three for PlayStation. Never got the later ones, as I don't have a PS2.
One of these days, though.
I've played the demo, it's pretty fun. The graphics aren't the best though...

I've read too many mixed reviews from gamers, (they say it's too easy, too short, etc...) the review site's however have nothing constructive to say about it, only roses and green grass  I'll give it a go sometime soon and certainly will check out the demo.

Just finished it, was pretty good. Had to redo some levels because I couldn't get the save to work the way I thought it was supposed to, but overall a good Tomb Raider game.

Tomb Raider - Never did like Tomb Raider. Maybe 13 yr olds liked it because they got to watch digital ass running around, but no thanks. That is the premise this game is built on to sell.

I'm a conditional Tomb Raider fan; when the first one emerged, it really was pretty revolutionary. Gotta remember that it was the first real 'Indiana Jones' game (even if you were a hot British chick instead of Harrison Ford), complete with sprawling 3D settings, wall climbing, rope swinging, etc. Before it, 'adventure' games were generally stuff like Kings Quest...which I ain't knocking, mind, I love the old Sierra games...but you see my point.
The franchise rapidly took a turn away from the tomb raiding and into more of the action genre, though, and it sort of lost it's appeal for me. Legend got my attention again, and I've been awaiting this one to see what they could accomplish with it.
Probably linear storyline. AKA: It automaticly sucks.
like i sed , i love the textures and the env. I dll COD world at war multiplayer demo must say this is a game that sucks whit the graffics

Meh I'm of the opinion that if you judge of game of its graphics, you really aren't giving some awesome games a chance.
Dwarf Fortress for example has ASCII graphics and if you ask any true dwarf fortress player he'll say that if DF had recent generation graphics it just wouldn't be the same.
Meh I'm of the opinion that if you judge of game of its graphics, you really aren't giving some awesome games a chance.
Could say the same to you.

Meh, if the game isn't open ended I just don't see the point in playing it. If I play HL2 again, it will end up the exact same way I played it the first time, I mean whats the point? I'd be better off getting someone to write an after action report of their playthrough then spending money on it and going through the trouble of playing it.
Its why I love games like Dwarf fortress, X3 Reunion, Total war and Hearts of Iron 2. You never know exactly what your gonna get, and how things are gonna end up.
In games like Dwarf fortress you don't even need to play the game to have fun with it, some of the best fun can be had by just visiting the DF forums and reading the AARs of people playing through.

I've always loved the TR series so I'll be giving this a d/l. Really dissapointed with the COD W@W Beta cos it was crap, beats me why they though it was a good idea to use the COD4 engine again, it sucked ass even in COD4. The graphics are terrible. And this whole linear/non-linear stuff really annoys me too, I personally don't give a monkey's toss whether a game is linear or not, if it's good, it's good. In fact in some ways I prefer linear games cos you don't get lost!
Sorry, rant over.:|\\
Well I have the TR Underworld, and the gameas simply amazing graphics...I must disagree with some of you as for mea good game with bad graphics is no go, a badgame with good graphics and I am on it!I love graphic and this Tomb Raider is beautyfulll..Check this thread...http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=147296This is what I think...

Recent take-over by Square Enix hasn't slowed them down. More sequels (http://kotaku.com/5246966/eidos-sequels-and-sequels-to-sequels) aren't always good news, but in the case of Hitman I'm certainly pleased. :yeah:
Ah, goodie. Always anxious to play a new Hitman game. :yeah:

"The next Tomb Raider, I think, will surprise a lot of people and reinvigorate the franchise. There are some remarkable things we're doing in the next Tomb Raider to make you say, "Oh Lara, I love you so much!"
So they're increasing the size of her bust some more, turning her anime looking and including a nude skin?
TR Underworld wasn't too bad, not the greatest game but it was still fun while it lasted.

Enjoyed Underworld as well, though definitly not a brilliant game. I don't know how much influence Square is going to have on design, but it could mean better developed plot-lines and some more cut-scenes. Not a bad thing imho.
*Not much new, except that Thief 4 has been officialy confirmed.

I generally like the Hitman games but they need to make the puzzle aspect of them less apparent. The game's tout "freedom" to perform the mission how you want. But that's really untrue, given the game still wants you to do the mission its way.
Arclight
05-13-09, 09:33 AM
You're never forced, as far as I can remember. Poison his drink, shoot him in the face at point blank or put a bullet in his chest from afar, it's all up to you. :hmmm:
I agree with CaptHawkeye. While there is multiple ways of killing your target, the different methods are usually just for that mission. If you take out the mission based methods and think what is left, you really only have a) shooting him or b) poisoning him with the syringe. There's no REAL choices, only those that the game gives us for that mission. That sucks.

Well, the levels are fairly small, so freedom of movement is rather restricted. I agree there's only a limited set of possibilities, but you're free to choose which course of action to take.
Hitman was always a console game, maybe now with the next-gen ones with increased capabilities we'll see some expanded level designs.
I never played any of this previous...but perhaps would have done
(Reuters) - Gun-toting adventurer Lara Croft is back in the latest "Tomb Raider" game to fight for new players but she comes gadget-free, without the improbable curves and trademark braid, and with an adults-only rating.

Rise of the Tomb Raider continues the story of Lara Croft as she seeks to learn more about the deeper, secret world she has discovered around her. Obsessed by what she has seen, Lara is now threatened by a shadow organization intent on killing her for what she knows. She is pushed to her physical and mental limits as she seeks the truth buried deep within the tombs of an ancient world. To unravel the mystery of a Lost City, Lara must use her survival skills and wits, learn to trust new friends, and ultimately accept her destiny as the Tomb Raider.

It's a timed exclusive for the Xboxes. They didn't mention a PC version specifically yet, but considering the previous one was on PC and that it makes no sense to block part of your market it's reasonable to asume it will come along at some point.

Rise of the Tomb Raider, and the Writer Behind it All
http://www.gamespot.com/articles/rise-of-the-tomb-raider-and-the-writer-behind-it-a/1100-6431449/
Lara's challenges are different this time. Her demons are psychological, her fears internalized after the events on the island of Yamatai. Pratchett approached this new explorer with empathy: How would Lara respond to that kind of trauma? How would she move forward? How would she cope, after seeing so much death on that lonely rock in the middle of the ocean?
"She is a survivor," Pratchett said. "It's more of an emotional trap than a physical one. She's seen the game's antagonists do terrible things to those that get in their way, and she's now more mentally prepared to fight fire with fire.
"And although she's not 100 percent comfortable with this, she's starting to come to the conclusion that for whatever reason, she's someone that can do this."
Plus some amazing video of "Bringing Lara to life"

I haven't properly gotten into all this yet (love the movies, mind) but I picked up all the discs over time, plus a boxed-set collection containing Underworld, Legend and Anniversary. I was lucky to be around when the first TR game appeared, it was amazing for the time. Since all I have on the road is my 2007 model laptop, I am playing through the first TR games via Steam (that's all this laptop can manage). It's still fun.

The main problem I had with the most recent iteration of TR, which was quite good and I own, was how much of a monster the game made Laura.
When you get to the end of the game and think back on the THOUSANDS of people you've just killed... I mean, Jesus - granted, you can somewhat justify it in that they were trying to kill her too, but man.
Going from this naieve girl to someone who kills without remorse, and often!, was a bit of a stretch for me. IOW, I think the game focused too much on combat.
I'm really, REALLY hoping that this new installment addresses this and focuses more on the spelunking/puzzle solving than the wholesale slaughter of people.

When I got my ps4 earlier this year I picked this game up on sale. I was quite impressed with it and found it lots of fun. The best part is that my wife loves watching me play it, she will actually ask me if I want to play some "laura". She's really been enjoying both the game play and the story as it plays out. If only she could be like this for the other games I play but I'll take what I can get.
I'm barely half way through right now so by the time it comes out next year for ps4 I'll be finishing up the first one, I don't play it as often as my wife would like. (if I finish it fast she won't ask me to play video games, that stuff needs preserved)

After a few more hours of play time Im still pretty impressed with this game. I did not play the previous game so I cant say how similar it is in that respect.
I'm finding in certain respects that it reminds me of the Prince Of Persia series. Not so much the combat but in the acrobatics/exploration aspect. Which I like a lot as I always liked that element of the POP games.
The lighting is really well done as well. When you enter a cave or crevasse she will automatically pop a glow stick which she will hold up or attach to her belt. It works great because you get some light but just enough so you are never sure what is more than a few feet ahead.
