Trying to get all the various sound volume levels on SH3 at an acceptable level relative to each other, especially when wearing headphones, can be a challenge. Adjusting the in-game sound volume options help to a certain extent, but there are always several sound files under FX, Music, or Speech that are either too loud or too soft compared to the other FX, Music, or Speech sound files.
When I was playing SH3 under WinXP, there was a way to adjust the volume of each sound file separately; I'd Go to SilentHunter III\data\Sound folder. Find and Rt-click on the sound file, select "record", increase/decrease volume under the "Effects" drop down menu, and click "Save" under the File drop-down menu.
Now that I'm playing the game under Win7, I see that adjusting individual sound files in the above manner is no longer available.
Have any of you found a way to adjust individual sound file volumes under Win7? Or perhaps steer me towards a sound file app that's free of crapware? Thanks..

try Audacity (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Audacity_%28audio_editor%29), it's free and relatively easy to use. I've redone ALL the speech files with that :88)
