Hi all. I'm an aging Kiwi who's been away from PC games for quite a while. In fact, the last time I was simming was with the original SH (which I loved!)
While I will also go back to playing FPSs for mindless entertainment, my greatest gaming love is military sims - combat flight sims and the sub sims, with the emphasis being on good graphics with very high levels of technical accuracy.
Just built a gaming PC (Just to see if I could, really) so now I want to try out SH4, as all the reviews seem to rate it as the best of the SH series and not dumbed-down for the "point and blow things up with one click" masses.
Even the original SH allowed for high realism settings with manual targeting and that is what I liked most about the game, the ability to make it challenging and intellectually demanding. I'm expecting great things from SH4 but expect to need a lot of help as I'm running Win 8.1.
I've only been looking at these forums for a couple of days but have been highly impressed by the attitudes displayed and am very happy to be a member :-)
