Russian incursions to the north and Chinese to the south...America will need to stand firmly beside its Japanese ally.
Russian bomber and spy jets to flying in from the north and Chinese fighters penetrating from the south placed Japan under siege for most of 2014, forcing Japanese Air Self Defense Force fighter jets to scramble more frequently than at the height of the Cold War

That place will not remain to be the stage of just a cold war for this entire century, I'm certain. At least local conflicts of limited scale will take place sooner or later. The Chinese navy already is the second biggest behind the US navy, still growing both in numbers and technology level.
Their opponents: the two biggest debtors on the globe. Not really a peace-assuring arrangement.
And then there is Russia. One of the two biggest nuclear arsenals on the globe. And North Korea. One of the biggest troublemakers on the globe.
The scene is set, the curtain parts: lets see how the narration will be told for all the global audience - and hope it will not become too Shakespearean.

What's happening? Are the Chinese and Russians preparing to invade Japan?
This is a crazy world, that the Japanese are our allies against the Chinese and Russians reminds me or 1984 and how the alliances kept changing and shifting.... nuts.

No.
They're just flexing their muscles to show the world that they're no longer lumbering communist states but a modern superpower and to make leverage when dealing with disputed territory.
Plus Russia and China would sooner fight each other than Japan.
Problem: Pressuring Japan to cede disputed territory will most likely cause a crisis.

What is happening is that the great rally for claiming the resources in the region's seabeds has been declared open.
Japan is turning older and older, and more and more conservative. It will become more and more determined not to allow being militarily intimidated by China, like other, smaller countries will need to accept.
Also, China versus US would be the duel creditor versus debtor. Both goods and evils come for both from that constellation, and it gives both sides reasons wanting to avoid war - and wanting war. One thing is for sure, I think: any military escalation will see an even greater escalation in any kind of financial and currency war as well. The currency war indeed already is there, thow still cooking ion small flame. But that can change just any day now, or month, or year. Completely unpredictable. Expect everything any day, and this for years to come - that is my advise.

Russia is sort of happy with Japan with the exception of the Kuril claims Japan has and the fishing rights I think. Nothing to fight a war over of course, but some reminders about our national interests are sadly required.
Should Japanese seek soke sort of reasonable compromise there I am sure that they would find it.

I hope so. I may be naive, but it's really difficult to imagine any kind of war breaking out between major powers in this day and age.

I can imagine a million ways how such a war could break out.
The more decisive question is if enough people in control and power can imagine a way to prevent that, and whether they even want that. Because whenever their is a big crisis, some people win something from it.

We don't agree on much, but we agree on that.
Like in a crime case there is a reason or a motive to why a war start.
If a war should break out in that area,
What was the reason ?
What was the motive ?

Unfortunately, in that part of the world there is still disputed territory delimitation's where two countries claim sovereignty over.
The South China Sea area is also heating up.

If 'war' does break out I believe it will be fought in the stock exchanges and the import and export markets.
As long as Japan Airlines 747s stay away from the US Congress we should be alright. :yep:

It has already broken out. The name is currency war. Nasty word that is. Everybody tries to avoid it, but it is fact.

That war has been going for decades, it's a global war. :03:

Sorry but some of that went right over my head. I presume in the former you're referring to Cuba but the latter escapes me.
