Hello and Thanks for the access to your forum. I hope to meet many on this site and enjoy a common hobby.
A little about myself, I hail from Cape Town South Africa, now living for the last 30+ years in Johannesburg, in a suburb called Edenvale. My ancestry in this country goes back to the 1760's, I am of Irish, English and French descent. I have had an IT career of 39 years to present day, of which the last three have been my own business.
So yes the above indicates I am of the older generation at 55 years of age. Because of my IT skills, it expands through to my first love and hobby of virtual aviation and cockpit building, my second yachting, sub and ship sims. My father was a veteran in the then Royal Navy which became the South African Navy, and fought in the second world war. His total service was 40 years with an honourable retirement, having seen the world, and him finally passing ten years ago. So I have grown up around ships and submarines most of my young pre and later adult life, starting my career as an apprentice in the Simonstown Naval base, at the tender age of 16 (I was the youngest apprentice of the time to be ever taken on). I served there for 8 years. This is the place where my IT career started and it moving me to my current home in Edenvale.
Glad to be onboard and look forward to future interaction.
