Problem with troop insertion objective

Ahoy!

Recently I started playing SH4 again, and my second mission was to deploy a total of 7 troops into southern Luzon. However, no matter how close I get to the shore, no prompt comes up to drop off the troops. Can anyone help me?

This is also my first post, if I'm doing anything wrong go ahead and tell me.

Were you on the surface with your engines stopped? I believe you need to be going below a certain speed, as well. If you are stopped and aren't getting the prompt to launch the boat, you can try going to periscope depth (note the water depth first) and then surfacing. Coming back to the surface has been known to trigger the prompt.

As for what you've done wrong, nothing. You're playing Fleet Boats instead of u-boats. You're doing it right! Welcome aboard.

Must be surfaced and doing 2 knots or less. I normally say postpone when the prompt comes up to launch the boat because forward motion will run into the raft and I hate that sound so I drift astern to avoid it first.
