I absolutely love trees. This one is very near where I live. They're like people: most you don't really notice, but every now and then you come across one which really stands out.

I'm always looking at trees. I use them in my work but I find them restful to the soul anyway; they're never in a hurry to be somewhere else, unlike us.

I'd really like to see photos of any remarkable trees or groups of trees you've come across, especially if they're near where you live.

I know a couple of them. Some are a little too ''interestingly shaped'' to be allowed here.

Here's a cherry tree I planted last autumn

Oaks are beautiful, it's mainly pine trees up here but there's the odd oak here and there.

Here's a couple of random pic I took last month:

I love the early misty cold mornings up there with the birds calling and Tule elk. It's usually wet but rarely has snow as it's only at about 2000 feet elevation. I'm taking the photo in that picture and I sold the bug about two years ago when it started having crankcase problems and I didn't have anywhere to park it off the street anymore. It was all stock 1964 1200 cc and 6 volts.

We have pecan trees in our backyard each around 65 feet in height. They have a deep tap root that helps them withstand the strongest winds. Come fall they produce pecans that taste like Grade A Canadian Maple syrup, it is a real treat.

But a word of advice. Make sure the pecan trees are not too close to your house as they attract tree rats and other rodents which if left to their own can really tear up a home's structure and make a mess of things.

My brother fell out of a Lombardy Poplar when we were kids. I watched him frantically grabbing at branches all the way down and if he hadn't, he would've been more than just winded (I think I told my Mum about it last year).

didn't see any squirrels up there, there was a Kookaburra though and maybe a ghost, a couple of days before we climbed a bloke had a heart attack at the top, took them half a day to get him down, i suggested they just throw him off as he wouldn't feel anything anyway.

Efforts to restore the tree's health by the Southern Pacific Railroad (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Southern_Pacific_Railroad), the City of Palo Alto and local citizens included progressive pruning of the dying treetop, addition of soil and mulch at the tree’s base, removal of dead limbs, pesticide spraying and installation of a pipe up its trunk to bring water to the top of the tree. Although the tree stands today at only 68% of its former stature, it enjoys greater health than nearly a century ago.
