hey guys, I came to the forums here this morning and for some reason the options are in german! how can I change the language back to English?

At the very bottom left of the screen should be two options, the furthest left is colour scheme, to its right is language.
Every time I go somewhere else on the forums the language switches back to German! How can I make the language permanently English?

Upper left, click on UserCP. Scroll down to Settings & Options, and click on Edit Options. At the very bottom is Forum Language, where you can select the language you want.
this is weird, the language option in the options is set to English, but the quick language selector at the bottom left keeps changing to German whenever I go somewhere else on the forum. What's happening

That's a relief: when I saw the title I thought you were going to ask why Subsim is full of squirrels and rubbish...

^LOL
So now them Northkoreans speak German?
Maybe I should have known that, Great Beloved Führer-cult and all that. They probably mistake Neals' site with that of the US Navy, due to the use of the word "sub" in both.

Let's not, and try instead to keep at least one thread on track.

Exactly let's get this thread back on track and focus on my question. Also, this language issue is only happening when I go to the forums on my computer. The language settings are staying the same when I come here on my iPhone.

In regards to the problem at hand, could it be related to the browser? Is it deleting cookies after closing perhaps? :hmmm:

I really don't know where the idea comes from that we can't say squirrel? I have no problem saying that...but on the other hand I also don't have a problem with the "th" so maybe I'm weird.

Probably like getting non Germans to pronounce "schnitzel" properly.
Usually ends up with a big facepalm.

Schnitzel would be pronounced like shnitzle, and no english-speaking person i know of has ever had a problem with that :)
And ...
(tush)
Squirrel.
There. I said it.

I can confirm this, we performed this highly scientific experiment on Teamspeak once. We also came to the conclusion that Schroeder was weird, and German, which is about the same thing. :O:

@Avers
Does your computer accept cookies? If not web sites won't save your settings (or so I believe...).
I don't know, how can I check to see if my computer accepts cookies?
Schroeder

Should be an option in your browser's settings.
If you use Firefox like I do you can follow that instruction:
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/enable-and-disable-cookies-website-preferences?redirectlocale=en-US&redirectslug=Enabling+and+disabling+cookies
I use Internet Explore, do u know how to see cookie settings with IE?

I checked the cookies and all of them are being accepted. I should also mention that this problem happened after my windows updated.

If your IE is automatically deleting cookies then you can prevent this following the advice below:

Ah lads come on.
How hard would it have been to run every response through Google Translate and post everything in German?
Missed a trick there.
Speaking of squirrels, has anyone seen Takeda recently?

Takeda has left Subsim about a year ago.
I deleted my browsing history, but the forums are still in German and won't stay English when I change the language! Basically still the same problem. What else can I do?

Hi avers,
just tried logging in as you, and everything came up as the Queens English. Not sure where the problem lies.:hmm2:
Ps. I didn't actually think you'd give me your login details, think of the mischief I can cause!!:D

You came up on my detector at 10am GMT and were a whisker away from having your account banned but fortunately I was aware of this problem and fathomed out what was going on ya lucky bugga. Think of the mischief I could have caused :03:
