Hello everyone,

After a 5 year break (being billeted for shore duty by Donitz, I guess) I just got back to SH3.

Why I stopped I don't even know - just did. There were things and stuff and more things and I drifted out of the game.

On a spur I got it again (on Steam) and all I have to say is: daaamn!

Not only do I want to play the game, not only is it as exciting as it used to be (and after all these years! it still delivers!) but the community also seems to be as active and as devoted as ever. Frankly, this is amazing as I was almost expecting the forum to be dead and abandoned. And yet, not only is the "old guard" present but there are actually new users and new players asking questions and sharing their adventures and experiences. I think, this is something very special.

On a practical side: is the LSH mod an improvement over GWX? I know it's much more recent, and whether it is actually "better" is probably relative, but which one would you kindly recommend?

I wish all good luck, good sailing and of course good hunting.

ps. It's nice to be back in that darn sub.

I recommend all of them.

NYGM: The most realistic gameplay. They spent a great deal of time and effort working on the sensors and other details of submarine combat.

LSH3: The most detailed harbors, ships and other eye candy.

WAC: The most elaborately fleshed-out campaign system. Every naval encounter is there in detail.

GWX: The most balanced, giving good gameplay, great visuals and a good campaign.

The best thing you can do is use Multi-SH3 to try them all.

And no matter what supermod you finally settle on, the biggest favor you can do yourself is to also use SH3 Commander.

Thanks for all the welcomes.

Indeed, I sat out almost the whole war :)

And I guess all go over the mods suggested by Sailor Steve.

Off to sea then :)

...I was 43 when you left the game - just a SH3 infant, and still learning.
