Sh3 commander medals

Hey mates. Do I have to award the medals through commander or can I just award medals through the game little confused on this

You can still award medals through the game, but it will only allow you to give out one or two per patrol. with Commander you can hand out as many or as few as you want. I find this especially important with qualifications because in real life there is no such thing as an 'unqualified' Petty Officer. He is never a 'PO Third Class', he is a Radioman or a Bosun's Mate or an Engine Mechanic.
