I just want to understand something.. I have the same issue as many others, with the tonnage bar.
My question is, should I care? What is the result if my tonnage bar doesn't fill?
So I end my mission and go back out.. am I allowed to just patrol around and sink ships? I still have a U-boat and a big area of water don't I?? :hmm2:

Sorry if it sounds like a stupid question but I'm wondering should I just ignore the orders and drive my U-boat around or does the game script convoys based on the mission I'm on?

Just wondering because so many others have had problems. If in fact the only ships I will find are the ships in the assigned patrol area, then I'll say screw it and uninstall SH5 lol.. I have no problems going back to SH3.. I just want to make sure I'm not misunderstanding things.

Filling the tonnage bar completes certain missions. Progressive to some campaigns requires that all missions are completed.

I am sure theres a list of requirements out there to advance to each specific campaign somewhere in this forum. :)

KirinFrost thanks for the response. I'm still not understanding what the consequences are for not "advancing" in a campaign.
If I go out on patrol, return with no tonnage (let's say I had a bad run), time still moves forward a few weeks, no?

Will I still be able to go out and sink ships or will there be nothing out there?

Sorry to be redundant, but if I sink ships, come home, go out, sink more, why does the tonnage bar matter other than some type of prestige?

I guess I'll pursue this further and see where I end up. :hmm2:
