Silent Hunter 3 was excellent, Silent Hunter 4 was even better, this game... well it stinks. Spent a few hours yesterday downloading and patching it, installed the mega mod and a few other fixes but this game really just misses the target.
I've only played it for a hour and have little interest in continuing with it. The graphics are OK (nothing special) and the ability to walk around the sub is novel but the games core layout is poor. Its like they took the good elements from SH4 and dumbed them down. The navigation system is tedious, the crew management is weird, the shortcut controls are missing and 4 years after its release it still has lots of bugs. The recognition manual kept reappearing, the crew were spinning around on the spot and the gunners would leave their position even after telling them 5 times.
I also hate the hand holding opening missions, like a its a CoD shooter aimed at easily bored teenagers.

Revert back to SH4 and despite its age and dated graphics its still far superior and it feels like a sim, SH5 feels like a action game.

Sub sims have a very small market, maybe the publisher felt the need to dumb the game down to the level oth your average gamer? At least it is a PC game, with consoles it would have been worse.

That said I don't play WW2 sub sims, so what do I know?
