Tonnage Bar Work Around Part 2

Hi guys

Well you will know from the original post ‘Tonnage Bar Work Around’ (Link Below)

http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=216294 (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=216294)

that a number of us are having problems trying to get the tonnage bar to fill so as to be able to complete the mission/patrol and then move on to the next one.

Well I am pleased to say after numerous failed attempts with the Baltic Mission I have actually been able to complete this patrol with the tonnage bar filling.

So was this just luck or due to the changes that I made. To be honest I do not really know.

The fact is with the right conditions or settings etc, it works.

I always reduce my mods for the Baltic Mission.

I usually play with around 40 but I cut these down to a minimum of 14 that I am happy with. (see below)

The first thing I did was to check that my AVG Firewall was letting through the 3 applications.

The applications are Game and 2 Uplays.

I clicked the SH5.exe icon and when the Uplay screen came up I then went in to settings.

There are 2 paths here. 1 is games and the other 1 is cache.

I added both of these to my Firewall settings.

At this point I left the setting to On Line and then pressed Play.

With the game loaded at the Main Menu I went to New Campaign

I selected ‘High’ and skipped the tutorial.

When the game loaded I pressed the Esc Key and went to Options and Game Play Settings.

I made a change and saved it.

Back on the Main Menu I went to Save Game and saved the change I had made.

This overwrote the original Autosave Enter Base. (AEB)

I loaded this saved game and this has now made 2 changes to the game.

On the bridge the original sailing time would have shown 23.00 hours if I had not made the additional (AEB) save.

On the bridge after the save the new time will show 16.00 hours in the afternoon a changed of 7 hours.

The third change is I can now go to my Sub System and make any changes that I am allowed to.

In my case I just changed torpedo 2 from electric.

Next to the Flotilla Leader here I start the mission without requesting it.

This means that I have no orders, primary or secondary objectives.

There is no yellow mission icon showing on the map.

The patrol area mark still shows so with the compass I draw out a 76km circle and place it on the spot so I will always know I am within the patrol area.

I now set off, I do not use Real Navigation or Waypoints (apart from Kiel Canal outbound) I prefer to use the compass and rudder for all movements.

I take a high heading so when I am close to the patrol point I send a radio patrol report.

The reply is ‘Be more aggressive.’

I then drop down towards Danzig Bay.

I have the first Autosave In Game (AIG)

I now Exit the game

Restarting I now go Off Line.

After the next (AIG) I do a Manual Save 15 minutes later and then Resume.

I just miss a merchant coming out of Danzig Bay but as it is daylight I have no chance of plotting an intercept course without being seen, so I carry on towards Port 1.

I sink 3 ships in Port 1 and 2 ships in Port 2 all using the UZO.

The Captains Log shows all correct entries as I have had before in previous Baltics and no corruptions.

The tonnage bar is filled and the icon is showing completed on Baltic.

I send another radio report and am told ‘To continue or return to port.’

I now make my way to Kiel, on the way I come across 2 merchants in my path which after disposing both with the deck gun I send a ‘Radio patrol report’ after each sinking.

I now notice that my base has changed from Memel and is positioned at Kiel.

I am assuming that this automatically happens when the u-boat reaches a certain point towards Kiel.

I am now able to End Patrol.

I never saw the Polish Task Force at all.

Another rare occasion with no ctd’s with the Baltic.

I now enable the rest of my mods.

So what happens next as I will now have Eastern British Coastal (EBC) to contend with and Breaking The Fortress.

I do not need to know what my objectives will be?

The mission icon will show the (EBC) patrol area.

I have the mod ‘Change Days in the Bunker.’

I have the default setting changed from 14 days to 5.

I will start the game again as before On Line.

Load the saved game.

Accept upgrades as required.

Next to the Flotilla Leader do not select the mission.

This is because the Baltic Mission is still active as it is only September 3rd.

I select Yes to load the game.

The game loads and the date has advanced 5 days and (EBC) is showing.

I am now ready to go down the Kiel Canal.

The black icon at (EBC) will show me the patrol area which I will draw a line along using the ruler so I know I am always in the right place.

However first there is the ‘Breaking The Fortress’ to contend with.

I will carry out the same procedures as I did with the Baltic and who knows maybe I will get lucky again or is it just getting the settings right?

Watch this space!
