I can't tell you how happy I was when my hometown team, the mighty San Francisco Giants won that last game and about the way they won. I'm gonna have a bit of fun when I next run into a neighbor of mine, a big fan of the (if you'll excuse my crude language) Los Angeles Dodgers. I think I'll first ask him why the Dodgers can't seem to beat the Cards (they were knocked out in the postseason by the Cards the last 3 years), but the Giants seem to do it very effectively and often...

The World Series looks to be a good matchup. The Royals are going to be a tough team to defeat, but the Giants have been the sort of team that somehow finds a way to win the day...

GO, GIANTS!!

Good luck to the Giants, however, I think it's the Royal's time! That and they're my hometown team :)

Yeah the Royals got me worried. Interesting that the two teams that made it to the series were both wildcard teams.

I did order a delay radio scanner a couple of days ago so I can listen to my guys from KNBR and watch the game in synch. I just hate the playoffs broadcasters that step in and wing it.

That reminds me of watching games in San Francisco on TV when I was just a kid, back in the late 50s and 60s. I don't remember the exact radio station call letters, but I would also turn down the volume on the TV and listen to the radio play-by-play. At that time, the legendary Russ Hodges was the main announcer and he was one of the best announcers at that time. Delay was not a problem; there was no delay, it didn't exist at the time...

A side note: I am no fan of the Dodgers, but I will listen to the innings called by Vin Scully, the Dodgers also legendary announcer. He doesn't call as many games or innings as he used to (he's going to be 87 years old soon), but there really is no one around today who can call a game the way he calls them...

Can't say I've had enough of Vin Scully to appreciate him but you know the feeling. :03:

I was waiting for Buddahaid to post since he started this topic. The mighty and resilient San Francisco Giants have deposed the Kansas City Royals in the 2014 World Series and are now the reigning champions and kings of US Baseball. Added to their accomplishment: this is their third World Series Championship in five years (2010, 2012, 2014). I now rather imagine they will take next season off and return in 2016...

I got busy but I'll bump it for ya. I wonder how much money people lost betting for the wrong team? What was it 16:1 in Las Vegas?

Once the Giants beat us (Cardinals), I knew they would win it. And before you jump on me, no...the Cardinals are not bad...I'm not admitting that. We had a good team, but we made some stupid decisions. Bringing Wacha in at the end was the dumbest thing we could've done.

Congrats Giants fans. You now have the biggest bandwagon team in the NL...along with the biggest bandwagon pitcher.

Next season it'll be...."Clayton Kershaw? Who's that?"

We'll win the next one for Oscar.

I don't know the odds since I'm not much of a gambler, generally. But, yeah, I'm sure there were a lot of sports books with significantly diminished bottom lines for the day...

The performance of Madison Bumgarner was most amazing. In this day of pitch counts, platoon relief, and "marquee" starters, Bumgarner played the season and the post-season with a sense of self-control and poise. He well deserved the MVP award. However, I kind of wish there could be co-winners; Pablo Sandoval, Hunter Pence and Buster Posey all made great contributions in both play and attitude during the playoffs and the Series. The entire Giants team won because they played as just that: a team. Unlike some teams where they fawn over a particular player, the Giants management and Manager Bruce Bochy treated the palyers as all being part of the whole and did as much as possible to support the individual players to reinforce their places on the team...

The next season is going to be interesting. The team may lose Pablo Sandoval (the Kung Fu Panda) to free agency and who knows what other changes may come along...

By the way, did you know Bruce Bochy was let go by the San Diego Padres because their CEO wanted a "younger" guy as a manager? I wonder how well that CEO sleeps of late?...
