In the midst of all things Ebola, ISIL, and the myriad of other 'downers' around these days, how about a bit of humanity. These clips are from a series that aired for many years on the PBS station KCET here in Los Angeles. The host, Huell Howser, was cultural fixture here in LA making short films showcasing the seemingly mundane and the unique of life in Southern California. The first clip is the most popular of all the films he did and also one of the most touching. The second clip is an update to the first produced several years later:

There are times, when I'm feeling a bit pessimistic about the way the world is going that I'll go back and watch these clips a a sort of reassurance that somewhere in time there was such a thing as simple pleasures. I hope you enjoy these clips...
