I'm getting audio only ads on two different computers that seem to be related to Subsim. What's going on?

Three times today I've had an audio only ad play that doesn't match up with the banner ad. At first I thought it came from photobucket but it just happened on another PC where I don't use pb and it happened right after clicking to refresh GT at Subsim. I'm not saying I know it's Subsim but it's never happened before anywhere without a pop-up creeping through. These have no pop-up windows and were for GM products.

That sounds like a very persistent cookie. Or maybe a malicious pop under ad. Have you tried deleting your browser history and cache?

I would think so as well save for two different PC with different cache histories. Well, well, number four just happened and it was for GMAC finance. I had two tabs opened in Chrome and I closed the other one leaving Subsim running. The ad continued to play and I noticed a speaker icon in the tab that went away after it was done. This is certainly coming by way of Subsim or the speaker would have been in the other tab.

Number five just now with only Subsim running. It was a Capital One CC ad and the speaker was again present. The ads may all have been Capital One.

Not happening here.

At least they aren't "Meet 1000s Of Singles In Your Area" :shifty:

I hadn't noticed anything like an audio ad. I disable ad block for Subsim sites to help out the site in displaying ads....I use it everywhere else so I'd for sure notice if an ad started playing.

You could consider trying an ad blocking programme.

Anyone else seeing this? I do not knowingly have anything but a single banner ad.

no audio-ads here. The OP must have been browsing some NSFW/NSFL stuff and now hes blaming our favorite forum.:)

None here either, has the OP used something similar to this program adwcleaner_3.311 it works for me and it was recommended by those Win 7 gurus at http://www.sevenforums.com/

I recently had a situation (not on Subsim) where I was hearing an audio track for something I didn't see on my screen. After a bit of sleuthing, it turned out a site I had opened up and left open while I went to another site, had a little video screen way off to one side, a sort of YouTube setup, and, though it showed a still picture when the page was opened, would suddenly start on its own (no click) and run. I have also noted a number of pages where a video will play just after opening the page and, in many of these cases, there is no way to stop the video until it runs its course...

If anyone else finds this issue while browsing Subsim, let me know. Otherwise I consider this case closed.
