I know we have a lot of chess guys here. Last time I heard about chess, Kasparov was still the reigning world champ of about 80 years or so. It looks like there are some young new champions in the making. (http://www.slate.com/articles/sports/sports_nut/2014/09/sinquefield_cup_one_of_the_most_amazing_feats_in_c hess_history_just_happened.html)

Before any of the six entrants in the 2014 Sinquefield Cup had nudged a white pawn to e4, they’d already been hailed as the strongest collection of chess talent ever assembled. The tournament, held in St. Louis, featured the top three players in the game. The weakest competitor in the field was the ninth best chess player on the planet.

At least one guy noticed it...

And you indeed are a bit behind scheduling. :D Kasparow hasn'T been ruling champion since years now, having left chess . Anand became the next champion, and then Carlsen late last year (who was trained by Kasparov for some time, but somewhat rebelled against him and so their paths separated). --> http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=209190&highlight=chess

:salute:

P.S. I only add to that old thread that on earlier occasions Carlsen repeatedly defeated Caruana, and clearly.

I'm still of the opinion that the strongest collection of talent in the room was Bobby Fischer-by himself! Too bad he's not around to play against young Carlsen...:hmph: required reading...still IMHO: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/9/9d/My60MemorableGames.jpg/220px-My60MemorableGames.jpg (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:My60MemorableGames.jpg)

I am shocked that Carlson would not talk to a free-lance writer from Slate.

Does he not know the reputation of Slate???

Perhaps he does. :D
