Plain Vanilla SH5 - Random CTD

Just got SH5. Was surprised it CTD's at random times because I have no problems at all with SH4 - ever.

Steam version - big mistake - should have bought the Amazon version but that's water under the bridge I guess. My Win7 64b home premium is 90% setup with the defaults. Got a few totally useless things turned off in msconfig like a DVD lable maker (why would that be installed to load on start with Win7 HP?) and some win media player garbage but that's about it. Use an NVidia 560 with 2Gb on board RAM and an i7 Q2670 4 core processor with 4 virtual cores turned on for a total of 4 real cores and 4 virtual cores with 8Gb RAM.

See subject. I don't always experience a CTD but if I do it happens an hour or two or 3 into the campaign and once in the PQ17 mission. I can't ever get more than a few days into a campaign and can't get past the 1st one without a CTD. ANNOYING as HELL!

It seems to happen most often when going to a periscope view after leaving the captain's room. But not always.

Looks like a decent vs of SH and after playing SH2 and 4 for a long time was really looking forward to 5.

Any ideas guys?

If you are playing stock without TDW's Generic File Patcher or certain mods that fix things then there will always be a good chance of what you are experiencing.
