Caused by the BP spill? Mutation from Fukashima? Convergence of the Gulf Stream hitting UFO exhaust in the Bermuda Triangle? Actually a large mantis shrimp!
Whatever it is... I have another reason to go to the mountains for vacation!
Try to see how long you can stare at this gigantic monster shrimp before becoming wildly uncomfortable and convinced that something totally just crawled across the back of your neck. What if I told you that its eyes are on stalks and can move independently from each other? Link (http://theconcourse.deadspin.com/fisherman-pulls-monstrous-nightmare-shrimp-out-of-ocean-1630965735)

yep, those are mantis shrimp and are very common and are badazz little buggers, they swing their little claw arm (hanging down at the bottom) like a club with enough force to break through glass bottles and have been shown doing it on discovery channel when they put food in a bottle in front of it.
they don't usually get that big though, maybe 4" or so, so im thinking this might be a fudged camera angle closeup shot trying to sensationalize it for the news
I ate one before and they taste just like regular shrimp but are rubbery like lobsters

Mantis shrimp are abundant in the coastal regions of south Vietnam (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vietnam), known in Vietnamese as tôm tít or tôm tích. The shrimp can be steamed, boiled, grilled or dried; used with pepper (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_pepper), salt, and lime (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lime_(fruit)); fish sauce (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fish_sauce) and tamarind (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tamarind); or fennel (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fennel).[24] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mantis_shrimp#cite_note-24)

Well, here's one with a good presenter. And if you'll look at the comments, you'll see that it's Wil Wheaton approved :yeah:

Two great videos...I certainly learned something from them
Size of that Mother....:o
To borrow Parker's saying from ALIEN...."It's big as a man"!
As has been previously pointed out, "jumbo shrimp" is an oxymoron; however, this is the exception proving the rule...

Am I the only one who thinks that "Satan's Shrimp" and "The Rotherham Horror" sound like a euphemism for something doctors would call a p....?
Yes, and sometimes a cigar is just a cigar...
