So much of what makes Britain "Great" is Scottish, and I have to say I'd like to see them vote "no" and stay, although I understand why they might want to go. But no-one seems so far to have talked about what will happen to the many knighthoods conferred upon native Scots, not to mention the Peerages. Is a yes vote going to see them effectively stripped of their titles?

That's an interesting question, and one I hadn't thought of. :sunny:

Those that are going to loose are active in the counter campaign.
Those that found a way to keep the titles and gain from it are leading the charge for it.
Anti groups should invest in a roadtrip for me.

Excuse me sir, do you have a moment to talk about Yugoslavia

It would be the same as Ireland wouldn't it?
Keep the titles for the successive generations but the actual offices would disappear on the death of the current holder.
I suppose it would be the same with the order of the Thistle as it was for the order of Patrick. Appoint a few for a while for old times sake then wind it down until their is only the patron and a book keeper left in the order.

Longshanks (AKA Maleus Scotarum) is turning flip-flops in his grave.

Well if there is a yes vote, I hope it'll bring an end at last to all those Englishmen with vaguely Scottish-sounding surnames wearing kilts and sporrans to weddings in this country.

Ah, thanks.
they should vote NO.
Slovenia once left an imperial monarchy. It then faced 20 years of a corrupt Serb king, 5 years od nazi occupation, 45 years of communist dictatorship (that wasn't bad actually) and 25 years of runaway corrupt capitalism and destruction of the nation. From Vienna to Belgrade to Brussels/DC.
And on the eve of major imperial reforms to give south slavs a large autonomy inside the monarchy.
We can't run our own country.
