We know of one specifically by name: Freydis Eiríksdóttir, daughter of Eirik 'the Red' and sister of Leif Eirikson.
In 986 Bjarni Herjulfson set sail for Greenland to join his father. He missed and discovered another land further west. He didn't land, but headed eastward again and this time landed safely.
In 1001 Leif Eirikson returned to Greenland following a visit to Norway and heard Bjari's story. Leif purchased Bjarni's round ship and set sail westward, making the first confirmed European landing in the western hemisphere.
In 1004 Leif's older brother Thorvald took a crew to Leifsbudir, the buildings constructed by Leif, and spent a winter there.
In 1009 a further expedition went to the western country. One of its members was Freydis, Leif's sister.
Here is the salient part. In 1011 the group was attacked by the locals the Norsemen had named "Skrælings". The men ran away. Freydis attacked the natives alone. Legend says she bared her breasts and beat them with her sword, howling like a banshee. The Skrælings ran. A "mere woman" had saved the day. :sunny:
"Honey I'm back from the battle what's for tea"?

At the Battle of the Rosebud, (Crook's defeat-the prelude to Custer's fiasco) " the fighting intensified as the retreating Indians turned and charged the soldiers. That ridge gap was the site of a heroic act still legendary among the Cheyenne. The advancing soldiers killed the horse ridden by a Cheyenne chief known as Comes-In-Sight. Too far away to help, Crazy Horse and his followers could only watch helplessly as the soldiers advanced toward their fallen comrade. Suddenly an Indian rider charged down into the gap, mindless of the bullets throwing up clouds of dirt around the horse’s hooves. Zigzagging to avoid being shot, the rider reached Comes-In-Sight and beckoned him to leap aboard and ride to safety. The rescuer turned out to be the warrior’s sister, Buffalo Calf Road Woman. To this day, the Cheyenne proudly refer to the Rosebud fight as the battle Where the Girl Saved Her Brother. Buffalo Calf Road Woman wasn’t the only skilled rider that day...."

Good point about the indian woman warrior. However:
"it's never over till the fat lady sings!"-attributed to Yogi Berra http://www.gifs.net/Animation11/Geography_and_History/Vikings/Opera_singer.gif
It would seem the phrase was first used by Ralph Carpenter on March 10, 1976.

Yogi Berra's (actual, not attributed) was "It ain't over 'til it's over". To my surprise his phrase came first, in 1973. I always thought he was corrupting the other version, which he seemed to enjoy doing.

Exactly! I did look it up (always) and went with the popular version.:-? Some say sports commentator Dan Cook too "Just to get this out of the way before we start: is it 'til, till or until? You can find all of these in print:"

Yeah, who's to say the Viking warrior women didn't go a raping and a pillaging, just because the men folk in the burning town didn't mention any raping? Or pillaging? Prostitutes like to get paid.:haha:

I take it you have no objections been knocked black and blue by a bare breasted Viking warrior women bashing you with her breasts?

Ever seen two woman fight and I mean really fight? Far more brutal than two men fighting. If you ask me I think many women become the victims of crimes because they tought to be timid when at certin times they should go for the juglar. I see plenty of men these that would be unable defend a woman in need.

Girls have that extra rib
Sorry, men and women both have 12 sets of ribs. Sometimes someone might be born with an extra pair, but it's not common, and can happen with either sex.

That's why it was called a Broadsword. Had nothing to do with the breadth of the blade, just the breasts of the wielders.:O:
Also the source of the word cleavage. bby. Because you'd get your head divided while your attention was divided.
Made even the strongest man cry Mammy!
The only male warriors who stood a chance, were likely gay.
Isn't it amazing how much is left out of the history books?:haha:

I'm not in the least surprised by this. I've always felt women were the cruelest of the sexes.

I once listened to an account by a Police Officer, on the radio, who'd witnessed a gigantic argie-bargie at a rock festival between a gang of bikers and some other group. He said he saw this female biker straddling some poor bloke she'd knocked to the ground and noticed she was naked from the waist up, breasts dangling. As he watched her pounding this guy's face in, he noticed she had a tattoo on each boob: one said "mild", the other said "bitter". True story that...
