The Forrestal class carrier is being towed from Rhode Island to Texas where the Navy has paid a penny $.01 to have her scrapped.:down::wah:

Esco Marine is being paid a penny by the Navy to dispose of the Saratoga. It plans to make money by selling what it recovers from the ship.

Hopefully they'll make money but it also keeps folk in work I should imagine.

Always sad to see the demise of the old dependables.

A shame, she was a lovely looking carrier, the Forrestal class were good ships, they served well, shame it looks like none of them will be preserved. :nope:

My uncle took my brother and I to Portsmouth in about 1962-3 to watch the USS Randolph come in to port: my aunt had emigrated to the States shortly before and married a US sailor (a meteorologist) who now was one of those lined up on deck in their whites as she came in under a glorious Summer sky: a sight I'll never ever forget.

He stayed with us while she was in Port and I remember him clearly with his "crewcut" hair and heavy-rimmed specs, a great guy (he bought us each a huge toy cowboy gun). I don't know what happened to him but I think the Randolph got scrapped too.

You realize he was made a rat and I think as leader you should look into it, take control of the situation, demand answers, pay Neal off. If I was leader, I would lead a mass protest of the rats. You can't sit idle and let a rat suffer. We demand your plan of action. If you get banned from the forum, at least you showed leadership and the men would respect you.....and maybe find respect for themselves..

I think it might be because his posts though not directly vulgar or anything of that nature can at times be a bit disruptive and somewhat off topic. I guess they think he makes a habit of it.
