Stumbled across this on Youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-OGvZoIrXpg
wonder if it will be any good.:hmmm:
Heh...heh...yeah... I had high hopes for it too, but they've gradually been diminished. Especially when I read something like: "its five-man crew on a deadly mission behind enemy lines. Outnumbered and outgunned, Wardaddy and his men face overwhelming odds in their heroic attempts to strike at the heart of Nazi Germany"
On the up side, it'll actually have a proper Tiger tank in it rather than CGI or a prop.
Who knows, I might be wrong, but I fear that rather than Das Boot it'll be more U-571. :dead:

At the heart of Nazi Germany – do they use canals to go to Berlin, with their tanker ?
(sry, i read "tanker film" and thought ... lol)
Hey cheer up,
a lot of the worst propaganda films have been given the Oscar :03:
They seldomly were boring, and no one cared for reality :)
It at least looks like they got the tanks right. Despite the Sherman's not exploding into a ball of flaming wreckage on contact with anything. Much better than this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QvvoMn9qMO0

:har: Oh dear, and I thought that 'Battle of the Bulge' was bad for that, I mean the Soviets managed better in their 1985 epic 'Battle for Moscow', the tanks are obviously T-54s or 62s, but at least they're made up to look vaguely Panzer shaped and they have Sd.Kfz 251 mockups too, which films often forget. You don't notice the fakes so much in scenes like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B7h-uDGuJg4
But when it gets a bit closer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0kfsat7BDH4  :dead:
Still, at least in this day of CGI such discrepancies are more the result of lazy workmanship than material restrictions. :03:

Let's not forget Patton, where every tank was a Patton :03:
There is a program in Discovery (at least here is broadcast in that channel) of a group of persons, english I think, that buy war material and restore it. The name eludes me.
I saw one program and they were contact by the studio to be the historical consultants and to provide several ww2 authentic material for the movie. I think one of the tiger is a real one from them, but can be mistaken do to be talking from memory.
About it, I share Oberon view of a more U-571 type film. One of the critics I already read was that for a WWII tank movie, they choose the wrong front!

Now a Firefly taking on a Tiger I can understand...but a Sherman armed with a peashooter :hmmm: :)

Taken/based from one of my favourite authors Sven Hassel and his novel Wheels Of Terror....heaven preserve us :nope:

Certainly no authenticity in that one!:haha: Especially when you see a tank crew strutting around in clean, fresh off the supply room shelf uniforms.

The Sherman in Fury is the 76mm variant, so not exactly a "peashooter". :O:
