British Sub

So I came across a British Submarine in open waters and approached it. I got close enough to fire off a torp but upon seeing it, the British Sub dived. I got off another one but it was pointless, the sub had turned to port. Well I pursued it underwater for a time:arrgh!: only to come upon it sunk:hmmm:, and floating perpendicular to the surface. A couple of shots with the deck gun put it under for good. This ever happen to anyone? What do you think might of went wrong with them?
