Hillary throwing Obama under the bus?

It appears as if Hillary is beginning to try and put as much distance between Obama and his administration as she can before maybe declaring her intention to run.

"Of course, Clinton had many kind words for the “incredibly intelligent” and “thoughtful” Obama, and she expressed sympathy and understanding for the devilishly complicated challenges he faces. But she also suggested that she finds his approach to foreign policy overly cautious, and she made the case that America needs a leader who believes that the country, despite its various missteps, is an indispensable force for good. At one point, I mentioned the slogan President Obama recently coined to describe his foreign-policy doctrine: “Don’t do stupid ****” (an expression often rendered as “Don’t do stupid stuff” in less-than-private encounters).

This is what Clinton said about Obama’s slogan: “Great nations need organizing principles, and ‘Don’t do stupid stuff’ is not an organizing principle.”

When last time, 7 (?) years ago Obama won against her the nomination by his party, many people said she would be done and would not try again. I said that woman is so overambitious, she will try a second time to become president in eight years. And there she comes.

Consider it a new episode of "Dynasty". Once again the Clintons against - maybe the Bushs?

Don't know much about US politics but my understanding is that she is nowhere near as popular as she has been in the past but perhaps Obama becoming increasingly unpopular is making her appear more popular.

The problem for the Republicans is that they're steadily losing the battle for voters from ethnic groups and the young. It's a sign of things to come in traditionally Red states like North Carolina and Texas, where large influxes of Latino immigrants and relocated Yankees, both black and white, are slowly tilting the demographic balance toward the Democrats. The old Southern Strategy devised in the Nixon years is slowly crumbling. I don't see any new strategy being formulated to replace it besides a lot of gerrymandering.

Big difference, Obama was a new face with a new message, Hillary isn't. Also the future Dem running is going to suffer the Obama effect. There's a lot of talk of Warren, but she has no chance, because she is left of Obama at the onset.

I think Hillary peaked her last run and her star power among liberals has faded, but I don't count Hillary out. Much depends on who the GOP runs. If they make another Palin mistake, go too far right, Hillary could win.

The election process now is like Christmas starting in July and ending in May....with one month to celebrate victory.

Yup. In 2012, Obama was an old tired face with an old tired message and still won re-election.

The problem for the GOP is that their most prominent prospects display prominent flaws. Rand Paul is out of the party mainstream on defense and security issues; Chris Christie is tarred by the bridge-gate scandal, Ted Cruz is a polarizing figure associated with an unpopular government shutdown. Other contenders like Jeb Bush, Paul Ryan, Mike Huckabee, Rick Santorum all look like retreads connected to past disappointments and defeats.

Susanna Martinez, the Republican governor in New Mexico, looks like a fresher prospect. She's articulate, a fiscal conservative and a Latina. A group Republicans desperately need to court. Hopefully, she can avoid being compared to Sarah Palin.

That's the problem with the GOP, we always find a way to run a worse person. Problem is, the religious right still holds the GOP hostage, one can't win the nomination without them, but can't win the election pandering to them....America is too socially liberal now.

So Hillary calls Obama yesterday and tells him she was not "attacking him or his leadership" and is looking forward to giving him a big hug when she sees him today. This woman is poison. This is one of those times when you really do not want to keep your friends close and your enemies closer.

Very true Dread Knot. Watching him on tv the other night his whole energetic demeanour is gone. The winds have certainly left his sails - and by god has he gone grey!!!!! He is going to be almost white by the time he leaves the White House :D

Seriously though - that is one job I would most certainly not want. To me to run for the presidency of the US of A, one is either driven by a massive calling within oneself to civil duty or an unsateable ego. Maybe both.
