Well seeing that even a .22 lr round can travel up to a mile it is feasible for a 9mm round to travel 1000yds. Now is it really practical to attempt shots at such range? Not really but I guess it looks cool.

This guy is an exhibition shooter so this is his thing.Now the average Joe and even an experienced shooter would take many tries.If you where an exhibition shooter who practiced such shooting it would not be as hard to achieve. Keep in mind that this guy has been doing this kind of thing for 40+ years as well.

Of course you can just get lucky as well. Couple weeks back I was shooting a Charter Arm Bulldog .44 Special. Really a close range pistol having only a 2.5 inch barrel. We where just messing around shooting at an old pan hanging from a tree that was roughly 100yds away. Bulldog is a 5 shot revolver and I shot second but I watched the fall of the bullets that missed in the trees they where pretty close enough to suppress a person. So my first shot missed so did the second but I hit the pan with 3,4 and 5. That was of course way outside the design of the sights which where pretty crude.

Now would I ever use a Bulldog at that range in a real situation if any other option was available including a more accurate pistol? Heck no but it was pretty fun.

Yeah certainly a point where you want to aim a bit high. I know a US Army sniper in Iraq got a hit with an M24 chambered for 7.62x51mm. From extreme range it was actually beyond the scopes highest mark. So he just held off at the truly guessed aim point.

His intent was to hit within one story of the enemy sniper who was situated on a balcony. Instead he hit him in the neck it was a fatal hit due to the drop which had the bullet in a dive by that point. Forget the snipers name he was interviewed in a book. He freely admitted that it was truly one in a million to get a first shot kill. I want to say that it was around 1700yds.

Well I thought it was pretty impressive but I can't imagine a shooter trying this out in urban conditions.

Impressive accuracy diffenetly a world record shot. But at that distance it was most likely the force of gravity which provided the energy to pop the ballon.
