Lifeboat

That simple eh ? And here I was hoping it's someones crazy idea of a sub-raft. However, the real question is - is it beautiful ?

Its the most beautiful thing in the world, if you need one.

Unless you're a Somali pirate (other nationalities are available) and you've got Tom Hanks on board. :arrgh!:

Never get onboard a vehicle if Tom Hanks is already onboard. Lifeboat, LCVP, cargo ship, Apollo spacecraft, Airbus A300...you will regret it either way.

Actually not to much different from the semi-submersible units that drug cartels use.Only real difference is that this life boat is designed with rough seas in mind more so than semi-submerged operation.

IIRC This lifeboat was designed to just be tossed overboard and it'll right itself.. and also of course, for rough seas.

There's a similar but newer version here:

http://www.diytrade.com/china/pd/10980402/Totally_enclosed_lifeboat.html

The one in the first post is almost identical to the one I trained on over twenty years ago, hence the condition due to age.

She is self-righting and designed to protect the occupants from fires as well as rough weather and some are designed to be lowered whilst others free-fall down a short ramp into the water.

So, the real question is - why exactly would the drug cartels not buy these things in bulk, modify and use them for their purposes.

Lifeboat, LCVP, cargo ship, Apollo spacecraft, Airbus A300...you will regret it either way.I get Apollo (Apollo 13), LCVP (Saving Private Ryan) and Airbus A300 (Cast away, I think...), but what you mean with lifeboat and cargo ship? :hmmm:

Captain Phillips was my initial reference to pirates/lifeboat/Hanks. I'm not a big (should that be Big) Hanks fan but is a good film, worth watching.

The ending proves the fact lifeboat windows, whilst withstanding severe water conditions are still no match for high velocity bullets:
