Cool photos. So, they did all this and launch it just for fun, because It was all an hoax, and hoax I tell you!:woot::O:

Hard to believe that in a few days it will have been 45 years since 11 :o

I was 7 years old when they launched. Even then I knew for a fact it was all a photoshopped smoke and mirror operation.

I was 18 at the time. It was an interesting couple of years around that time. I remember watching the landing and thinking how proud JFK would have been to see the moment. Then I thought about RFK, MLK, the still raging Vietnam War, Nixon starting his rush to infamy, and all the other chaos on this little blue marble. For that moment, I wondered if Aldrin, Collins, and Armstrong would really wish to come back to all this after seeing the glories of the universe...

BTW, the only non-entertainment star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame is in honor of the moon landing:

In fact, there are four identical star plaques on the Walk, one each on the four separate corners of Hollywood Boulevard and Vine Street. The only other recipient of four stars is the singing cowboy, Gene Autry, who was a big financial supporter of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, who administers and authorizes the stars. Interestingly, when Reagan died, I thought they would spruce up or upgrade his star since he was the first and only actor/President. However, his star remains as it always was with no embellishments. For a long time, about a couple of years, the star was located in front of one of the few store fronts that were vacant on Hollywood Boulevard. Also, his star is not for achievements in film but, rather, for his work as the host of a TV anthology series "Death Valley Days" on which he never acted...

Just for you WolfiBBY! where the open road kinda meets the concept-as you may R.E.M.ember http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1hKSYgOGtos (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1hKSYgOGtos) Just the footage of normally grave Walter Cronkite :smug:gleefully reporting the moment caught my attn. even back then. Obviously: THIS WAS REALLY BIG! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_3vVjyqkwrw (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_3vVjyqkwrw)http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/d/dd/Buzz_salutes_the_U.S._Flag.jpg/595px-Buzz_salutes_the_U.S._Flag.jpg (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/d/dd/Buzz_salutes_the_U.S._Flag.jpg) Whenever I check the moonphase on my Valjour7751 von Burg timepiece against that 'Ghostly Galleon in the Sky' there is not a doubt in my mind...it's an American moon! And this is the pic that proves it! "Buzz' Aldrin saluting. Few things ever gave me greater satisfaction! He and Neil Armstrong each wore an issued Omega Speedmaster Pros, but Aldrin's (#1 on the moon as Neil's stayed in the lander to replace the craft's failed timer) got stolen in transit... Neil's #2 made it to the Smithsonian. If you see one with this #: st105.003 at a flea market, PM me quick:yep: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v506/rjbroer/Fratello/advert1.jpg Omegas are normally 5K and up.... but not when they've been to the moon on wrist #1? then 'the $ky's the limit'!
