Hi Folks,
Starting to get the hang of SH4 - just curious - started a patrol with Operation Monsoon and my U-Boat has torpedoes stowed in external storage - in real life - how did this work - could they be transferred at sea ? Anyone know of any pictures of this process ? In SH4 what conditions have to be met to facilitate the transfer and how long should it take ?
Thanks...

usually calm sea's slow ahead or stop , just click and drag to internal spot from external and the crew does it.
As far as time goes, good question depends on the above condition's

It was a tedious, dangerous process that often had to be done a night in a dead calm. I seem to recall one reading about one U-Boat captain performing this operation in the Gulf of Mexico not far from the mouths of the Mississippi River. Most have been a nerve-wracking night.
Since a picture is worth a thousand words...here are two thousand words. :D Basically a lot of winching, pushing and swearing.

Hi Folks,
Thanks for the info - yeah - I've loaded modern torpedoes in port - 48's have to go completely vertical to fit down our 21" hatch - I couldn't imagine doing it at sea... Great pictures - still a bit curious on how the external storage lockers were situated...

in the stock game I think it takes about 40 minutes each but I TC passed it so I never kept track.
depends on the sub type but I think some subs they were stowed in voids around the ballast or fuel tanks between the hulls so they could use all the space they had
