And now she gets to find out about the real world. :dead:
:rotfl2:

Just kidding of course. I've enjoyed the little snippets of conversation when she visits you in the cave, and wish her all the best. :sunny:

Boy did she change in the last picture. I thought people use alcohol to make others look better not to make oneself look like an old fart.:o

:O:

Seriously congrats to your daughter.

On a job well done, Ms. Buna.:salute:

Judging by the extra fluff on the robes, was that Magnum cum laude?:D

You have a fine looking Lass there, Jim. She gets her looks from her mother, right?:03:

Well done Lauren. :woot:

Now it's time to get a job, move out, and let your dad have another room in the house to fill with aeroplanes. :03:

Enjoy that drink, you've earned it.

Thank you everyone for your kind words. My Dad has let me use the computer in his favourite room just this once. He's not so bad really and I usually get my way if I butter him up with a smile and a few nice words.

Better be careful or she may decide to join SubSim :)

Funny you should say that Tony because the boy is itching to move abroad and is waiting to see what his parents are contemplating similarly but talks are at the very earliest stages and both the boy and Ann and I are on hold until Lauren gets herself on track with whatever it will be.

More at York.

Congrats to Ms. Buna for her academic achievement and congrats Mr. and Mrs. Buna for raising a fine child (and your other fine children). :salute::up:

May I ask what her academic specialty is and what is her intended field of career?...

Oh, and Jim my sympathy to you; I have had quite a few acquaintances blessed with very attractive daughters and have watched them agonize through those teen/dating years. While I sometimes wish I had children of my own, I don't think I could have taken the stress of raising a daughter. I used to say if I had a daughter, I'd be inclined to let her date sometime after my passing...

Again congrats to all the Bunas...

Cheers all.

Her degree (as far as my dumb brain understands it) is in some kind of sports science which involves the managerial organisation side of things as well as some kind of linkage with physiotherapy and fitness which, according to her, allows a wide and diverse choice of career paths in management roles across many employment sectors.

Her current job is working in a large UK based retail chain (Marks and Spencer), they have a post graduate scheme where training is given in managerial roles within the organisation so part of me hopes she will choose that route.

She is currently madly in love with a nice lad and they seem well suited but you know how the saying goes...you can claw the cat but keep off the kittens :03:

The funny thing is that my wife has never used her degree, not once in her whole career. Strange things can happen. :hmmm:

I think it has been more of recognition that she can think on her feet and can work hard.

I'll bet that she actually has, even if you have never noticed. It's not the degree specialty that matters, it is the skills in research and constructing logical spoken and written arguments that are imbued at university that really count. Those are the real transferable skills which are of value in most, if not all, jobs.

Afraid not... her interest has always been fashion and she started from the bottom.. clerical and taking her managers husband's shoes to the cobbler :haha:

Her degree was Social Sciences majoring in psychology - that's why she married me .. she must have been nutzzz.. :hmmm:

From there into quality control and auditing... some 27 years later (still in the same company) she's running the quality control and auditing side, national and international, for the biggest fashion retail firm in ZA.

The recognition you talk about only came about 4 years ago, by 'accident'.
Top management finally woke up and changed their ways of doing things.
