Installing GWX, currently in middle of career....

Hello everyone,

I know that this subject is probably buried somewhere on here and tried searching for it but had no success. I am in the middle of my first career running stock SH3 with the H.Sie, stiebler, and widescreen patches enabled. But after playing I feel that the game needs "more" and have seen all the praise that GWX has received. If I install GWX now, will I have to start a brand new career? or will I be able to continue the current career with the effects of the GWX mod?

From the GWX Website/Home Page support page...

You must install GWX3 GOLD over a CLEAN, UNMODIFIED installation of Silent Hunter 3 with the latest patch (1.4b) installed.

Its annoying because the installer will refuse to install the mod if it detect ANY change from the clean vanilla game which is kinda silly if you know what changes you've made and are sure they won't affect GWX, such as making changes to the .exe.

I'd have preferred an "override because I know what I'm doing" button.

You will need to start a new career though. I don't even know if it'll load properly or not after the install because part of what GWX changes is flotillas and where they're stationed.
