N Korea threatens war over US movie

North Korea has promised "merciless" retaliation if a forthcoming Hollywood movie about killing Kim Jong-un is released, say agencies.

A North Korean foreign ministry spokesman said in state media that the movie's release would be an "act of war".

It's a comedy that makes fun of Vermont state troopers.

Pretty much. N Koreas trump card on the South/US is the fact they can kill millions of civilians really fast.

But what happens after that?

The world, including its mommy and daddy, China and Russia, will be forced to alienate them for such a heinous act, then we get pissed, and send the brunt of our fleets, and another 100k troops over there within 48-72 hours. It would make an international coalition a no brainer.

I do not see Fatboy jong Il willing to pull off a Hitler type last stand, this is simply theatrics and a propaganda point for his people, to make the US look like murderous devils whos only aim is to kill Koreans.

To be honest that is the best solution in this situation, the collapse of the DPRK would be a disaster that the region is ill-prepared to deal with, so it's in the best interests of the ROK, US, PRC and Russia to keep Kim Jong-un propped up. :yep:

The problem is that China can't open her borders because the sheer weight of migrants from the DPRK would overwhelm the neighbouring regions and severely damage Chinas economy, if not collapsing it entirely. That's why the PRC keeps Kim propped up, despite the massive damage the DPRK regime does to their international standing, because they are terrified of what would happen if the DPRK collapsed. The countryside in the PRC is one starvation short of a second revolution, and the last thing the rich men in Beijing want is a horde of starving farmers tearing down the Politburo around them because the DPRK refugees have eaten all their food.

The ROK would lose its financial muscle almost instantly with the flood of refugees, remember what happened when the two Germanies reunited in 1990? The after-effects are still being felt to this day, the Berlin wall may have come down but there is still a deep division between East and West, a reunification of Korea would make this look like an episode of The Waltons in comparison. It would be well over a century before Korea would recover from it and several generations before people from the North and South stopped hating each other.
