I've just picked up SH4 on Steam, having played SH2 a while ago, and I'm loving it.

The Steam version is 1.3 but I understand there is a 1.4 and 1.5. Why isn't the Steam version 1.5? Are these patches official and where can I download them?

Edit: could not find anything ( yet ) regarding patching a Steam Version. Someone will get
to this for you.

As far as I'm aware the Steam version should be the latest version.

No, it's definitely 1.3, I don't have the expansion pack if that helps?

As I recall even with the disc version when you add 1.4b it still says 1.3. Of course "as I recall" should be taken with a grain of salt these days. I haven't had it on my computer for awhile, so I can't actuall check.

As I recall, (it has been awhile), the expansion pack is your missing patches. If I am wrong, someone will be along to correct me.

So should I pick up 1.4 & 1.5 from the downloads section? Is the expansion any good?

If you have more than a casual interest in SH4, you should definitely get it. The latest version is the 1.5 U-Boat mission pack. Even if you care nothing for the German side of play, it is very worthwhile because there are bug fixes, and most of the recent mods require it. The mods make for a much better game.

I got the 'Gold Edition', on disc. I can't advise you about the Steam/download editions.
