I would say Real Fleet Boat, I played Trigger Maru Overhauled for years but have recently switched to RFB. Can beat the way the Submarine moves, dives, looks, ect.
In RFB isn't the map comtact thing like extremely limited iv heard it is. And I've also heard that your sonar guys don't hear very well. Is this true?

Not sure about that I just know its more "closer" to real life in boat terms.
Ok what about TMO how realistic is it?

It depends on how you define realistic and how you play. I suggest trying out the major mods and deciding yourself which one you like best.
Ok I will thanx btw my definition of realisim is realistic AI and being able to find enemy (and freindly) subs at sea and having them react realistically and I also like realistic graphics and ships.
Hey I saw on the RSRDC thread that the one for RFB says v1.52 does it still work w/ 2.0?

In RFB you loose the map contacts, if you zoom in real close. Imo, map-contacts are not realistic anyway. They mark the exact position of enemy ships without error. It is hard to have a realistic simulation when you have 100% accurate, precise target data for your firing solution.
In real life, there was always a significant element of uncertainty, and this explains why there was a high expenditure of torpedoes for every ship sunk.

The way the AI thinks is the same in all the mods. No one has the ability to change it. TMO cranks up enemy sensors to make them more scary, while RFB sets them so they are about what they were historically.

RSRDC_RFB_V575 is the correct version for RFB 2.0 and works very well.

RFB with RSRDC, Optical Targeting Correction, and Traveller's mod is probably the closest you'll get to reality. RFB changes the boats actions and reactions to as close to real life as the game allows. RSRDC changes the task forces, convoys, shipping routes to as close to historical accuracy as the game allows. OTC makes many corrections that make your boats sensors as close to historical accuracy as the game allows. Traveller's mod makes a lot of little changes especially with aircraft behavior. It also allows you to do some things that were theoretically possible, such as making repairs while sitting on the bottom. TMO isn't meant to be historically accurate. It's meant to make the game very difficult, yet keeps the traffic closer to stock levels. It also makes a lot of graphic improvements. My mod soup of choice is TMO, RSRDC, and smaller mods. Testing mods can be fun in itself.

IMO, while RFB may be more historical, due to the game, TMO gives you more realistic game play. It's hard to get realism in the game due to hard coded issues, TMO makes up for that somewhat.
I do agree, TMO, RSRD, Travs mod and for realistic play, cut cams and contacts off. Play 100%

True. I find it real easy to shake off RFB destroyers which makes it less fun IMO as I almost never die.

A couple of points:
1. There is no version of OTC intended for use with RFB v2.0, the current release version (released in 2009!) There is a version of OTC targeted for RFB v1.4. I don't know if OTC will play nice with RFB v2.0, but I wouldn't bet money on it.
2. I have never used Traveller's Mod, but AFAIK, there is no version of the mod compatible with RFB at all, only TMO and OM. Again, it might work, but ....
fireftr18, you may be savvy enough to make these mods work together. (If so, would you please post your results and any changes you had to make to get them to them work together?) But I think noobs should be warned that these are mods which were never intended to work together and that there might be problems.

BigWalleye, good post. Thanks for adding the info. I didn't like RFB, so when I looked for OTC and Traveller's mod, it wasn't a consideration. I didn't notice there was not version of either for RFB. I agree with you we need to warn nubies about known mod issues.
