Ok men,
I figured out how to complete the Mediterranean campaign.
You don't need to complete Rommel supplies, just complete ALL others objectives to achieve major victory.
You don't need to escort ships from Italy to North Africa because when you complete others missions automatically Rommel' supplies begins to fill the bar.
After you complete Operation Pedestal and all others objectives the game automatically end the mission and even if it says Rommel's supplies is incomplete, just ignore it because it's complete but you can't see it because the game end the mission after you complete all other objectives.
I hope this explanation is clear!!
About medals I can say for sure that they are awarded randomly!!
If you want to edit your personal medal just modify a file named CAREERTRACK in Documents/Sh5. Change all the file with that name in every folder but change that only once in your savegame folder. Edit the file related to your last save in port. There are two same file to change here one in UPCInitial ant the other in your 0000 save folder.
To edit open CAREERTRACK with notepad and copy and paste the last status related to an other award then change the progression number of the saved status and the name of the award to the one desidered. Repeat the process for every CAREERTRACK file. The others are located in Users and UPCInitial ( not the one in savegame folder)folders.
You can find award named in the CONTEXTGE FOLDER. Start a new patrol and check for the award in the crew management page.
Hope this help, I think it's the same for your crew but don't tried yet.

A little modify to what I said.
When you edit CAREERTRACK files also type the name of the award you want to add next to the others in PlayerAwards line at the beginning of the document
