I was wondering where the small sets of chainmail around the house came from.

I found this article in the NYT about why he thinks this attack by ISIS in Iraq will fail all together. Pretty interesting read.

Good article Eddie. I have to agree with it, eventually the Sunnis will pay dearly and things will be much worse for them.

And as the article said and what we all know....Iran comes out the big winner.

One thing that is kinda bugging me with this entire thing, is that Europes greed and vengeance was the root of this, the United States destabilizing the country was the straw that broke the camels back.

Now as a disclamer I do not place blame, politics of the time was much different back then.

Between the Treaty of Versaille and the Sykes-Picot Agreement, alot of people got wealthy creating fake borders for thier "friends, and splitting up tribes.

The tribalism is what causes it, and we call them savages for such tribalism.

But they did not ask for these borders, they were forced on them, by fat white rich Europeans (lesser extent, sloppy fat Americans, because Wilson was weak, and had little legs to stand on in negotiations, due to late arrival)), who were splitting up plunder after WW1, no care for stability, or the wishes of the people.

They wanted blood, and that blood caused WW2 when Germany was pushed into a position to fight back, How would you feel if your paycheck was worth half before you got from your employer to the market? No jobs in sight, no wonder they militarized. (aka hyperinflation)

Now the meddling by America in Iraq, they are now breaking apart by tribes, ignoring whiteys borders.

The Kurds are just sitting back waiting... They deserve something, they were hurt hardest in all this, from Saddams regime to the US not protecting them.
http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2014/06/140628-iraq-kurds-independence-kurdistan-sunni-baghdad/

If some did not treat WW1 as a way to fill the coffers, then alot of todays strife in that region could be avoided, we could have left them alone?

But no, minerals to exploit, we will try, then get mad when they push back.

Let them have the crap box. Let the Saudis deal with them, they got more money than God, Jehova, Allah, Jesus, Buddha, and Muhammad combined.

(edit: I forgot to mention The Flying Spaghetti Monster in my list of dieties. (bless his Noodliness)

The Iraq/Iran war went on for 8 years or so... This one most probably will to.
The best is to sit in the grandstand and buy some popcorn - as long as they're fighting each other and not you.

It won't be long before Africa goes up in smoke too :D

Just shows what living in the religious dark ages was all about.....Scary stuff.

I'll give, what I think is an exact parallel example.

When my eldest kid was approx 5 months old, Mom and I treasured every moment of sleep we could get. Having just got to sleep one night (around 3am), 2 male cats started their 'ball ache' confrontation outside the kid's bedroom.
Being exhausted from lack of sleep I saw red immediately, and decided to do something about it.

Ran outside at the cats to scare them away... They didn't even notice me and were at each others 'throats'.... filled a bucket of cold war and poured it over both of them.. they looked at me but didn't move. Then I made aggressive moves towards them... they then woke up and ran off together, still fighting each other along the way. :o

Moral of the story.. This lot are going to slaughter each other - just give them a nice quiet place to do it to each other. Maybe sometime they'll wake up and have some peace until the next round of gross stupidity.

One slight problem.
Where you gonna chase them cats to and how you gonna keep them there?

These cats are sitting on a pile of stiff you want as well as astride your major shipping lane.
That makes your popcorn very expensive in the grandstand.

Well, in this case it's 'their land in the quiet corner'.. they can fight over it.
You don't have to move them at all - The popcorn seats far away on the sidelines.
Shipping is good for business... there will be someone 'sensible' there to keep it open... after all it'll fuel their purpose.
There are plenty alternatives too... just the threat of lost business will open the lanes very quickly

Also popcorn is already expensive as it stands due to the regional problems caused by .......
Half a dozen, or 6 of... Probably better to do it without making their problem one's own.

I just got rid of (moved) the cats as I wanted to sleep.

Not if you want to do business.

Yes, because it isn't a quiet corner.
Costs eh?

There are plenty alternatives too...
Yeah right, and where are these alternatives?

just the threat of lost business will open the lanes very quickly

Doesn't seem to be working.
How long did your country choose to live with lost business?
How long has Iran done it? How long did Iraq do it?

Half a dozen, or 6 of... Probably better to do it without making their problem one's own.

Bit late for that, by a couple of centuries.

I just got rid of (moved) the cats as I wanted to sleep
Luckily you could move the cats.

If they do manage to consolidate that much territory, they won't stop there. Italy is mighty close and I'm sure they're spoiling for some payback against the Romans:hmmm:

^ Oberon, how dare you to belittle the war against terrorism ? :shifty:

You know well enough the anglo-saxon world is on a holy crusade against all terrorists (terrorist being the description of anyone who does not fit in, mostly of an earlier befriended group that helped against other "terrorists", temporarily), everywhere. And anyone who publicly doubts it IS also a terrorist.
They are EVERYWHERE, in the supermarket, in your house, in your car's ENGINE ! Now go back home, watch the News and be a good citizen :yep:

Seriously, why not help Iraq if they really want help. I can imagine most Iraqis had their best known times in the times of Saddam, if it comes to relatively peaceful and trading conditions.
If the new order is about securing trade routes and resources, Iraq is more interesting than Afghanistan.
Except for drug trafficking :hmmm:

Its certainly a strange map, I wonder where it comes from?
It certainly seems to make no sense, I wonder why that is?:hmmm:
Did it arrive in the mainstream media via some crazy white supremacists who reworked a map taken from Alex Jones at loony central which actually originates from a screenshot of a computer game by Paradox?
