I've been a happy SH4 player for quite some time with my home PC setup. I'm normally a Mac guy at work so PC are a touch foreign to me.

I'm using an HP i7 with 6 gig dram, big enough hard drive and benchmarks are in the 7's on the HP test sequence.

Downside is motherboard video with modest benchmarks. SH5 is a mess, I can get the resolution on this 23 in monitor, but as you can imagine the frame rate is terrible. The only way to get smooth action is to turn most everything off. I tried the mouse tweek but its still choppy.

My problem is the case is a low form factor type, though bigger than most low form factors with plenty of airspace in chassis.

Standard card will not fit.

As video cards are moving targets (pricewise and specwise), what would be a recommendation in mid year 2014. BTW dont want to spend big bucks, I'm not into playing the latest twitch game.

thanks for any help in advance

Amazon has this one for under $50 with a good user rating.

Asus ATI Radeon HD6450 Silence 1 GB DDR3 VGA/DVI/HDMI Low Profile PCI-Express Video Card - EAH6450 SILENT/DI/1GD3(LP)

Use the link to Amazon in the upper right corner, and anything you buy gives SubSim a small bonus to help support the site.

The more I dig into this the more I see obstacles.

Power supply is wimpy. 240W I think I read.

Seems to me I need to dump the box or spend a few $'s on an upgraded power supply. Then my card choice is fairly open.

I'm not looking at spending >$250 on a card, doesn't appear to make sense.

I "think" I can put in a better PSU with a decent card for the $250 goal.

Am I right, or is there a decent low power gaming card for this box?

Maybe HW3 gave me the answer and I'm done, but my instincts just tell me a $50 card is going to come up short. I may be foolishly mistaken!!!
