Hey submariners. I'm having issues with TDW's NewUI's mod. Love the mod and was using it before, but I had the Steam version, for which quite a few mods won't work. Got a new version of SH5, but before I uninstalled Steam version, I did something with the ships journal (tried to start a new journal without really knowing what it was for), and I think I messed my game up. Now, every time I try to use TDW's mod, I get all these message type screens that come up overlaying the game, and I can't close or manipulate them at all. I've gotten a non-Steam version and tried uninstalling and re-installing numerous times, but no love. I also think the Ubisoft auto-sync crap might have something to do with it, but I disabled that before re-installing the game and I'm still getting a " Saves synced from server" msg....not sure why. If anybody knows WTF is going on with that, I'd appreciate some info on what I can do about it.

I had a similar problem on the Steam version, but in my case uninstalling and reinstalling the game fixed it.

However in my case one of the hidden folders JSGME places for backups in your mods folder had become corrupted. So on reinstalling I removed my mods folder from the SH5 directory, deleted those hidden folders, reinstalled the game, copied the mods folder back to the SH5 directory, started up JSGME and allowed it to rebuild the hidden folders.

Also if you've downloaded the newer version of TDW's NewUI mod DON'T edit the options file directly. In the Data folder you'll find a sub folder called applications. In that you'll find yet another folder (one of many!) containiung an editor tool for the user options. Use that instead (and remember to make your edits before enabling the NewUI's mod.

If you've used the generic patcher (for the exe edits) I believe the advanced features can cause trouble (I've seen posts suggesting not using those features.

Another suggestion was going to your SH5 root directory, finding and deleting all draggables. TDW files.

Hope you get it sorted.

Thanks Jester. I'll give that a shot....actually DL'd a "not authentic" copy, just so I could try it with the mods I wanted. Worked for awhile, but then torpedoes started detonating like 20 meters out of the tube....talk about premature detonation.
