You have both correctly answered one part each of the initial question "What is this and who does it belong to?"

The tie breaker will be....how much was he originally asking for when selling it?

Markus Damn! I spent a lot if time looking at the Brewster SB2A https://airpages.ru/us/sb2a_02.jpgwith a very similar canopy as nothing else came up under "All US torpedo bombers of WWII". The front antenna didn't match up: too far in frontof canopy, nor the canopy sun shield over the radio compartment. The Seawolf was never used in combat; was built by Consolidated... but was designed by Vought! My first pick: the Vought Kingfisher https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-XuitGkH6ueY/XgApSiC6Y_I/AAAAAAABsxo/6M2f7JcADBEadDnzB6WBbNtDhXDiNYNdACLcBGAsYHQ/s1600/tumblr_px4eosUJUX1wvccpto1_1280.jpg had been built in 1938 ie prewar and Vought built no newer other ones during the war. I'm like you I like to take part-But have no interest in winning.
So I have a stand-in who take my place if I should win and this stand-in is Jim.

My advise is that you pick a friend in here as your stand-in who can take over if you should win.

Your mother was a hamster donkey and your father smelt like elderberries a wild a$$ (also called 'Hemippe', or syrian onager) :O:

Buddahaid has it, from the (war panel) Standard of Ur.. not a mythological beast and not more than four legs, four of those animals pulled the vehicle, just being closely painted behind each other. The first known hybrid animal bred my mankind, a status symbol of the time called the Kunga. Stronger than a horse and faster, but hard to tame.

https://edition.cnn.com/2022/01/14/world/kunga-mystery-animal-identity-revealed-scn/index.html

Mapuc had a hint and Budda found it – i say let Budda do the next one.

edit @Eisenwurst: Though Tiglat lived well into the horses' times, his predecessors probably used Kungas to pull their chariots (before 2000 bc there had been no horses in Mesopotamia)

The Turkmenian kulan (Equus hemionus kulan), also called Transcaspian wild ass, or Turkmenistani onager ? Klose; but not the Transcaspian Ass. A 4500 yr-old grave with 4 genetically tested skeletons (a 4-team?) reveal's man's first interbreeding for a superior war-chariot beast was discovered. These critters were expensive and had a specific name- & that is what the puzzle asks...:yep: EDIT: my bad... Catfish has posted the site and article which deals with the archeology and states the specific name Kunga: bred from the now extinct Syrian Wild Ass (died out ca: 1920's)or onager and a donkey. So Catfish actually takes it; but in PM to me he says Buddahaid may post the next puzzle...so over to Buddahaid. :salute:

Pratt & Whitney’s R-2800, also called the Double Wasp ?

It was exclusively a powerplant for fighters and medium bombers during the war, being used in the Republic P-47 Thunderbolt, Grumman F6F Hellcat, Vought F4U Corsair, Northrop P-61 Black Widow and also in the Martin B-26 Marauder and Douglas A-26 Invader twin-engine medium bombers. Post-war its reliability commended its use for long-range patrol planes and for the Douglas DC-6, Martin 404 and Convair transports. This last application is noteworthy, since these were twin-engine craft of size, passenger capacity, and high wing loading comparable with the DC-4 and the first Lockheed Constellations and DC-3.

No, the Tigercat did not see combat in WW2. An earlier variant of the aircraft in question did but the version I'm looking for didn't. Based on what has been determined so far the answer can be found on a wikipedia page.

I did reference Wiki. The Bearcat?

Almost, but that was an R2800-30W single stage variable supercharger and the Bearcat never saw combat in WW2. The Bearcat was designed for fast climbing low altitude carrier combat. It even out climbed the navy jets which needed more time to reach optimum climb speed while the Bearcat just started climbing.

No. There seems to be confusion about this I'm not trying to create. The aircraft has already been named but not the variant the engine photo I posted was put in. That engine has been established as an R2800 double wasp with a two stage supercharger close to the R2800-30W used by the Bearcat. The engine in the photo was only used in that one aircraft variant.

That is a fair question that I"ve been looking at again. I don't think mine is a photoshopped job...:hmmm: There are real renditions of this original vehicle. 3 prototypes of which were made. One crashed; one; burned; and the remaining only one is in a museum and occasionally makes it to Concours D' Elegance shows. It was initially displayed at the Chicago 1934 World Fair...and a famous architect who helped with the wind tunnel and design was in a Japanese internment camp in WWII. On some variations the fin is the rear 8 cylinder ford engine's exhaust outlet...well aft of the front-wheel drive.

I wonder whether anyone ever really thought of jet stilts on that car :/ It was the reference to the jet stilts that caused me to select this image with the rear 'jet stilt ; but i still can't tell if its real...but imho that wouldn't really affect the puzzle solving' Because he was aiming for what Fuller called Omni Medium Transport, a vehicle that could go anywhere, the Dymaxion would ultimately have "wheels for ground travel and jet stilts for instant takeoff and flight." Jet stilts were Fuller's placeholder idea for a future technology that could provide compact, concentrated lift – twenty years before the commercial availability of jets. o his daughter, Allegra, he described the Dymaxion as:A "zoomobile", explaining that it could hop off the road at will, fly about, then, as deftly as a bird, settle back into a place in traffic https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dymaxion_car
